Στον θόρυβο που έχει δημιουργηθεί στις μέρες μας σε σχέση με την κλιματική αλλαγή μπορούν και πρέπει να ειπωθούν πολλά. Το παρόν κείμενο του Price είναι ένα κείμενο σημερινό (δημοσιεύτηκε το Γενάρη 2019 – πριν γίνει ο μεγάλος ντόρος) το οποίο μας δίνει τη μεγάλη εικόνα από την άλλη μεριά του Ατλαντικού. Οι αναγνώστες ας έχουν κατά νου ότι αντίστοιχο με του αμερικανικού «Πράσινου New Deal» πάει να επιτευχθεί και σε επίπεδο Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης (οι προτάσεις έχουν ήδη κατέβει στο ευρωκοινοβούλιο). Αυτά σαν μια προσπάθεια κατανόησης της πρεμούρας των αστών για το κλίμα σήμερα… Το κείμενο είναι “σημερινό” ωστόσο τα ζητήματα αυτά οι Αναρχικοί, ανά τον κόσμο, τα έχουν στην ατζέντα τους εδώ και πολλά χρόνια. Σε θεωρητικό επίπεδο τίποτα δεν έχει αλλάξει· το ζήτημα της οικολογίας παραμένει στην επιφάνεια, μαζί με την αναγκαιότητα καταστροφής του συστήματος της ατομικής ιδιοκτησίας. read full story / add a comment

Racial oppression is rooted in capitalism. White people are not oppressed as white people, but do suffer from capitalism in other ways. White anti-racism cannot only be based on moral values but must also be related to their own oppressions caused by capitalism. read full story / add a comment

Αν και ο Μαρξ σκόπευε να αφιερώσει έναν τόμο του «Κεφαλαίου» στο ζήτημα του «Κράτους», πέθανε προτού ακόμη μπορέσει να ξεκινήσει αυτό το έργο. Έχουμε, λοιπόν, αφεθεί στην αναδιατύπωση της «μαρξιστικής θεωρίας του κράτους» από διάσπαρτες αναφορές που λανθάνουν σε διάφορα από τα συλλεχθέντα έργα του Μαρξ και του Ένγκελς. We repudiate the cowardly murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis’s police officers, another racist act in the heart of a world imperialist power. This event is added to the countless number of killings of people of colour and the Afro-descendent population in the United States which has been perpetuated since the days of slavery and hasn’t yet stopped.
Racism, a structural element in capitalist society, especially in North American capitalism, is unfortunately intact, but resistance and fighting spirit from people of color and poor people arises in response. Many liberals and other Democrats see Trump as the main problem facing the U.S. Therefore their focus is on defeating him in the next election (or impeachment). They focus on the electoral system and hope for salvation through government action. I disagree. Trump is a major problem, but he is the culmination of years of political and economic development, and is related to similar politics in other countries. The fight against Trumpism requires a non-electoral and militant program. read full story / add a comment

There has been an increase in anti-Jewish actions in the U.S. Why is this? Why have Jews been focused on by fascists and haters? There are traditional reasons for anti-semitism. The establishment of the state of Israel has created an interaction between anti-semitism and anti-Zionism. Where anti-semitism is irrational and reactionary, anti-Zionism is a just response to the oppression of Palestinian Arabs and Israel's alliance with U.S. imperialism. read full story / add a comment

In the 1980s I participated in a "dialogue" about anarchism and Marxism. Re-reading my writing now, when I am a revolutionary anarchist, I think that much of what I wrote then was wrong--with one exception. I went over certain key issues, such as the strengths and weaknesses of Marxism, the state, the revolutionary party, election participation, and national liberation--topics which are still important for anarchists and other radicals to consider and debate. read full story / add a comment

Απορρίπτω την ηθικολογική μέθοδο που έχει ως αφετηρία μια δέσμη αξιών (πού μια καλή κοινωνία πρέπει να διαθέτει), ώστε να φτιάξει ένα σχέδιο του πώς θα είναι μια καλή κοινωνία. Αυτή ήταν η κλασική μέθοδος των «ουτοπιστών», όπως επίσης και των συγγραφέων της Parecon (participatory economics) στις μέρες μας. Απορρίπτω επίσης τη μηχανική σύλληψη ενός καπιταλισμού που αλέθει μια νέα κοινωνία, στην οποία δεν υπάρχει χώρος για οραματική συνείδηση. Αυτή η άποψη ήταν κυρίαρχη στον Μαρξισμό (και σε κάποιο βαθμό στη δουλειά του μεγάλου αναρχικού Κροπότκιν). Η απόκλιση ανάμεσα σ’ αυτές τις δύο απόψεις, βασίζεται σε μια θετικιστική απόκλιση ανάμεσα στις αξίες και τα γεγονότα. Δεν δέχομαι αυτή τη διχοτόμηση.
