Liberty & Solidarity's 7th Biannual conference has taken the decision to disband the organisation. We are still proud of what Liberty & Solidarity has achieved and we hope to continue to work together towards shared goals, engaging with an ever broader range of trade unionists and community activists. Our project, the empowerment of working people within the workplace and society, remains the same. read full story / add a comment

[English] read full story / add a comment

“Should strikes impose serious damage to our economic and social fabric, the pressure on us to act would ratchet up. ” said Vince Cable at the GMB's annual conference, laying down the gauntlet to the left and the labour movement with the thinly-veiled threat of tougher anti-union laws. Now more than ever the question of “how can we fight back?” needs desperately answered. The left has responded to this question in different ways, from the civil disobedience of UK Uncut to the March 26th mass demonstration in London called by the TUC. Much of the focus was on the June 30th strikes, arguing for even greater, more militant action. But after June 30th, what next? Clearly a single day of action, no matter how militant, has not and can not change government policy, what should our longer-term strategy be against the cuts? irlanda / gran bretagna / lotte sul territorio / documento politico Friday May 15, 2009 23:36 by Liberty & Solidarity
[English] read full story / add a comment
irlanda / gran bretagna / lotte sindacali / documento politico Friday April 17, 2009 19:58 by Liberty & Solidarity
Liberty & Solidarity supports building of militant rank and file workplace organisations. Unions are strongest when they organise along the whole supply chain, from extraction, to manufacture to distribution. Liberty & Solidarity therefore encourages and supports industry unionism. It is essential for workplace organisation. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

Whilst the workplace is an important departure for class politics, workers are not just workers from 9am to 5pm. Issues such as housing and anti social behaviour cannot be easily tackled through workplace activism, and yet these are some of the issues which people feel most strongly about. These are also issues utilised by the far right in order to stir up hatred and division. Clearly we cannot leave this important area of society unorganised. read full story / add a comment
