The Workers Solidarity Movement is an organisation of working class anarchists who have come together to maximise the impact of anarchist ideas. Pooling the resources of many people allows us to distribute 6,000 copies of this paper every two months, and 1,000 copies of our twice yearly magazine, Red & Black Revolution. It allows us to discuss the best ways to advance working class interests, and prioritise particular activities rather than be so widely dispersed as to have little effect. read full story / add a comment

There was no surprise when Sinn Fein voted to support the PSNI, the republican leadership does not usually put anything to a vote unless they are already pretty sure of the result. This does not mean they found it easy, it was a bitter pill for them to swallow. The IRA used to shoot cops and the cops used to shoot them. Now they have to ask their supporters to assist the PSNI, even join them. read full story / add a comment

The nurses’ work-to-rule and their threat to escalate the action next week has been met with an outraged onslaught by Mary Harney and Bertie Ahern. The sight of a group of workers standing up and demanding their rights has become so unusual that it seems as if the government cannot believe the temerity of the nurses in doing just that.
Nurses – through the Irish Nurses Organisation and the Psychiatric Nurses Association – have put forward two key demands
· A 10% pay increase to bring their pay back in line with other health workers
· The introduction of a 35-hour working week, again bringing their working hours in line with other health workers read full story / add a comment

William Thompson was one of the of the first people to critically engage with political economy and attempt to turn it around to defend the improvement of the condition of the working class and rural poor. He was from a Anglo- Irish landowning family from West Cork and was to become a leading figure in the early Co-operative movement. In this talk from the anarchist bookfair Paul Bowman talks about the importance of Thompson and the relevance of his ideas today read full story / add a comment

Saturday, March 3rd will see Dublin’s Second Anarchist Book Fair, a free, public event packed to the brim with radical bookstalls, meetings and social events. Last year, the event was held in the Meath Street Area and proved a great success. This year, due to the increased demand for stalls and meetings, we’ve moved to a larger venue, in the Teachers Club, 36 Parnell Square, in Dublin’s North Inner City. read full story / add a comment
