Μερικές σημειώσεις εξ αφορμής της ταινίας για τον αναρχικό αντιφασίστα αντάρτη «Κίκο Σαμπατέ» που προβάλλεται αυτές τις μέρες (Φεβρουάριος 2023) στην Ισπανία. Ο αναρχικός Francesc Sabaté Llopart, γνωστότερος ως “El Quico”, συμμετείχε στον ισπανικό εμφύλιο πόλεμο, στην αντιναζιστική αντίσταση στη Γαλλία αλλά και στον ένοπλο αγώνα κατά του Φράνκο. Ο Sabaté αποτέλεσε τον κατ’ εξοχήν δημόσιο κίνδυνο για το καθεστώς του Φράνκο πραγματοποιώντας αρκετές δολοφονίες φασιστών και ένοπλες ληστείες για τη χρηματοδότηση της αντίστασης. read full story / add a comment

Ο Άνσελμο Λορένθο δεν υπήρξε απλά μια εξέχουσα φυσιογνωμία του πρώιμου ισπανικού αναρχικού κινήματος, αλλά ο πλέον πρωτοποριακός εκφραστής του αναρχισμού και βασικός «υπαίτιος» για την  διάδοση των αναρχικών ιδεών στην προεπαναστατική Ισπανία. Δεν είναι τυχαίο το παρωνύμιο ο “παππούς του αναρχισμού” που του δόθηκε, λόγω της πολυετούς, συνεπούς και καθοριστικής προσφοράς του στην ανάπτυξη του ισπανικού αναρχισμού. Στις 19 Ιούλη 2022 συμπληρώθηκαν 86 χρόνια από την Ισπανική Επανάσταση. Κάθε χρόνος που περνά είναι μια νέα ευκαιρία για να αναλογιστούμε τις επιτυχίες και τις αποτυχίες μιας τόσο μεγάλης στιγμής στην ιστορία. Όταν μελετάμε την ιστορία ως επαναστάτες, συνήθως λαμβάνουμε υπόψη την ισορροπία δυνάμεων, τους οικονομικούς παράγοντες, τις ιδεολογίες, τις οργανώσεις, την κουλτούρα και τις συνθήκες στις οποίες συμβαίνει κάτι. Αλλά μερικές φορές, ιδιαίτερα σημαντικά μαθήματα γίνονται ξεκάθαρα όχι όταν αναλύονται οι μεγάλες αφαιρέσεις (abstractions), αλλά οι ιδέες συγκεκριμένων μορφών που δραστηριοποιούνται σε καθοριστικές (ή σημαντικές) περιστάσεις. read full story / add a comment

Estos sucesos de repiten cada cierto tiempo y ponen en cuestión el desarrollo normal del “sentido común” capitalista de que no hay alternativa. ¡Claro que la hay! La acción de los pueblos rebeldes, que pusieron sus cuerpos para derrotar regímenes autoritarios, dictaduras o golpes de estado, demuestra la importancia del poder popular y la preparación revolucionaria para que se produzcan grandes transformaciones sociales. When the people rise up, they are unstoppable and capable of changing history. These events are repeated from time to time and call into question the normal development of the capitalist “common sense” that there is no alternative. Of course, there is! Alasbarricadas - We echo this historical review on the various positions that the CNT-FAI took along the Spanish Revolution. It is not usually easy to understand the complexity of a historical moment in which so many things were happening at the same time. We consider basic to understand the tactical ups and downs of any revolutionary movement in a historical moment in order to be able to learn something for our future struggles.

The article is not an academic one, but it sheds light on some little-known facts about how the CNT navigated 1938, in terms of tactics and strategy. This period has usually been completely erased, automatically branded as obscure, shameful, claudicating or bureaucratic without any attempt to understand what the libertarian organisations were actually doing. It is assumed that the drift of the war and, as the article says, the pessimism that surrounded the organisation from mid-1937 onwards, resulted in a shift in the strategic line of the libertarian movement to approaches as different from libertarian communism as could be the "trade union state" or corporate socialism.

We know that this article is the tip of the iceberg of a world that cannot be explained in a struggle of the good guys against the bad guys. Everything is full of nuances. We miss an explanation on the opposition to this shift. But to have treated that opposition as it deserves would have diverted the article from conveniently (and at a manageable length) presenting us the official line of the Movimiento Libertario Español (MLE) of '37 and '38.

And by the way, even if this history presents us with an unclear evolution towards bureaucratism and centralism, we are still amazed at with the enormous capacity of those people who built up our organisations and managed the daily lives of millions of people. Because, it must be said, when there was supposedly no social revolution any more, there were still hundreds of thousands of people living in collectivisations and a large part of industry was still under workers' control.

Αν και οι ξένοι αναρχικοί εθελοντές πολέμησαν δίπλα στους κομμουνιστές, οι οποίοι αποτελούσαν τον μεγαλύτερο όγκο των Διεθνών Ταξιαρχιών, και, μερικές φορές, στις ίδιες μονάδες με αυτούς, ο αγώνας τους ήταν πολύ διαφορετικός, καθώς επιδίωκαν αφενός να πολεμήσουν τον φασισμό και αφετέρου να διατηρήσουν τις επαναστατικές κοινωνικές δομές που οικοδομούσαν οι Ισπανοί σύντροφοί τους. Ωστόσο, όπως σύντομα έμελλε να αποδειχτεί, η σοβιετική διείσδυση και επιρροή και η αναγκαστική (συχνά βίαιη) στρατιωτικοποίηση των αναρχικών και των μη σταλινικών πολιτοφυλακών, δημιούργησε ρήγματα στους κόλπους των αντιφασιστών και σε ακρότητες εκ μέρους των εκπροσώπων της Κομιντέρν που πολλές φορές πήραν τη μορφή θηριωδίας σε βάρος των αντιπάλων τους.
