mashriq / arabia / iraq / indigenous struggles / news report Monday December 21, 2015 21:11 byIlan S.
The Israeli authorities admit it have no solution or a strategy to stop or even restrict the third "unorganized" mainly individualist and of youth. The mass arrest of hundreds of under age children do not seems to have any effect. The transfer efforts do not stop, and even increase in the Jordan valley, area C, Jerusalem, and even within the 1948 borders. The controversy in the Israeli media is mainly about the admitting it is already one state and about initiating a better Bantustan order before international pressure will force a more substantial retreat from 1967 expansion. The B.D.S. media news are usually restricted only to dramatic additions in it. The Nebi Saleh community is in the focus of the efforts to stop the joint struggle and its Friday demos. In spite of it, the regular Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, Ma'asarah, Qaddum, Sheikh Jarrah, West of Hebron Hills are accompanied from time to time by other communities. read full story / add a comment
mashriq / arabia / iraq / indigenous struggles / news report Monday November 30, 2015 15:08 byIlan S.
You struggle when you have hope for a developing change. You struggle when you refuse to accept the present as the only possible future. You struggle even when the hope is low just to keep your dignity from evaporating. And there are people their rage is so strong that no reasoning can hold them back. Now, when the hope for a better common future evaporated, and the hope for a nice personal future is even lower, the anger of lot of youth is stronger than the preservation of life instinct... it is just waiting for a chancy trigger to pull another boy or girl and send them to a suicide mission. And the mighty Israeli state just start to admit that their brutality reached the wall it cannot overcome. The military elite already stated to reveal it in the open that the new emerging "individualist" Intifada cannot be stopped by force. For those who are not burnt out or desperate the non armed joint struggle is the only sane road. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

mashriq / arabia / iraq / indigenous struggles / news report Sunday November 08, 2015 14:36 byIlan S.
In the beginning of the British mandate of the both sides of the Jordan, when Palestine was divided by the UK into two entities - each on one side of the Jordan, the secular national socialists accepted it while the rightist opposed. They still have in their movement anthem: "two sides to the Jordan - this side and the other are ours too". After Israel grabbed 75% of the west bank of Palestine in 1948 war, the Zionist elite of all trends was urging and waiting for opportunity to enlarge its share. The 1956 war failed to supply it but the 1967 one gave Israel all the west bank (and some more like Sinai - which it had to give back). The efforts to transfer the Palestinian out was successful in 1948 war, was less successful in the 1967 war, and much less substantial later - in spite of the efforts. The fear of transfer which inhibited the urge to struggle - both within 1948 borders and the enlarged 1967 ones is gradually dwindling and the non armed popular struggle - though hesitant, is gradually collecting momentum. read full story / add a comment

The fiasco of the failed take over of the relatively independent Iraq and Syria, by US imperialism lead to the compromises with the independent Iran. Israel role of threat on Iran during the bargain gave israel increased freedom to suppress the Palestinians. The returning of Russia to the Syrian arena give Israel more rope and it use it to intensify the efforts to take over the area C lands of the west bank. The third intifada is a desperate response of the Palestinians who see that the end of occupation is removed to behind the horizon. The joint struggle continue not as a rising hope but as a stubborn Tsumud of not giving up. The intensifying attack of the Israeli state and its rightist agents ignited a lot of social and individual responses. The Israeli media and public is not in 100% support of the state activities. international / workplace struggles / opinion / analysis Saturday October 10, 2015 20:59 byLucien van der Walt
In this week’s "Global Labour Column," Lucien van der Walt expresses pessimism against statist Left policies as an alternative to neoliberalism. He advocates a working class Left approach that is freed of the failed statist past and rooted in historical anti-statist, libertarian Left traditions. He argues that statist Leftism is weakened by past crisis and current powerlessness, hence his call for a rebooted Left politics that must centre on self-managed class-struggle and universalism, rejecting notions that nationalisation or political parties can result in fundamental change. Van der Walt discusses, as an example, the bottom-up collectivisation of the anarchist/syndicalist Spanish Revolution, 1936-1939, and its strategic implications. Lucien van der Walt is Professor of Industrial Sociology at Rhodes University, South Africa, works on labour and left history and theory, and is involved in union and working class education and movements. read full story / add a comment

How many could we house, educate and care for with 19 billion? The Irish government is currently furiously fighting the European Union to prevent Apple paying us back taxes it owes us. There has been a lot of ‘concern’ about government plans to spend 48 million looking after 4000 people fleeing warfare in Syria and Iraq. The government and the media defend there ‘our own’ is first - the super rich in Ireland and elsewhere! read full story / add a comment

The Israeli state which failed in its year ago offensive on the Hamas in Gaza, suffer also from its diminishing bargain power in the international arena, manipulate the internal discomfort of public opinions by increasing the encroachment on Palestinian spaces - both in the 1967 occupied west bank and within the 1948 borders. The diminishing in the support of the Israeli elite to the prime minister Netaniahu and his group push him to increase his political gambling that can crash him in the first big loss. His failure to pass his Gas scheme and the civil case in court in which his wife is grilled, may be the first signs of his approaching doom. In spite the efforts to lower the social pressure in the west bank by increasing the employment of west-bakers within Israel the popular resistance increase both in the occupied Jerusalem and in the west bank. The failed arrest of 12 year old child in Nabi Saleh caused a million views storm in the media. This situation and the next Friday of the joint struggle demonstrated again how the involvement of the AATW Israeli Jews prevented in the past and prevent now the extinguishing of the non armed Palestinian struggle with rivers of blood. It was one shooting of Gil Naamati in 2003 in a joint action of the anarchists AATW that caused a real wide media scandal in Israel (which forced the higher commander of the army to visit him at hospital and apologize) that resulted in the change of shooting order about dispersing non armed demonstrations in the occupied lands when Israelis are involved. In addition to our helping to distribute the news, Our main contribution is the supply of "life insurance" to the Palestinians and even to the stone throwers in the demos.... though it is not perfect and along the years about 20 were killed and many more were injured. Wayne Price has defended Marx's critique of political economy as useful for revolutionary anarchists. In the past many anarchists have agreed. But some have not, such as Kropotkin. Several topics in Marx's economic theory are discussed, criticisms reviewed, and responses given. read full story / add a comment

No one could predict that the joint camp in Masha 12 years ago of Israeli and Palestinian activists will ignite a wide movement of a joint non armed struggle which the Israeli occupying system will fail to extinguish. The thousands of activities and the tens of thousands of participates were not expected. Many small victories and the international B.D.S. warm the hearts of the not too many who persist in the joint struggle in spite of the mourning of those killed, empathy with the injured and solidarity with those arrested. The strong bond of partnership between the Palestinian activists and the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall initiative was surprising. Disappointing but not surprising is the way the people of the Israeli anarchist scene refrained from adopting the initiative as the main recruiting mission. Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Ma'asara, Nebi Saleh, and Qaddum are still holding high the banner. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

In my opinion the best attitude towards Rojava is “supportive and being critical” at the same time. Criticizing it alone and keeping distance from it does not benefit our current anarchist movement. This attitude again shows incapability of recognizing the reality of the movement, and would bring the blame of history over us. Meanwhile supporting it without criticizing its negative sides again shows that we do not see this movement realistically. Having this attitude, once the movement fails to meet our demands, we will be very disappointed and keep ourselves a far distance from any movement in the future. read full story / add a comment
