The Spanish Revolution is one of the key events in the history of the Anarchist movement, it was the moment in wich it was in the best position to put into practice its revolutionary vision. It also was the moment in wich the problems a revolution will undoubtedly face and to wich the anarchist movment MUST give a practical answer were most clear. In this piece, Sam Dolgoff reviews the dilemma presented by the experience of anarchist militants in the Spanish Revolution, the different alternatives and a balanced view of their implications. In this, he makes justice to the memory of so many comrades, who left and gave everything during the struggle for a free Spain. read full story / add a comment

Revolutionaries who want to fight consistently against capitalism cannot make any compromise with democracy. Democracy is the form of existence of those who have been alienated from the human community, "of those who have lost their original organic unity with the community" (Camatte). Therefore the communist revolution which means the creation of human community cannot be victorious without the total destruction of this way of existence. read full story / add a comment

There are two ways out of capitalism, revolution or death. Anybody who tells you otherwise is simply wrong. The US based sub-cultural cult "Crimethinc" (CWC) who mix anarchism with bohemian drop-out lifestyles and vague anti-civilisation sentiment would have you believe that capitalism is something from which you can merely remove yourself by quitting work, eating from bins and doing whatever "feels good". They carry on the legacy of prize-idiot Abbie Hoffman, printing books and zines which fetishise scams, petty crime and useless activist/punk sub-cultural activity like food not bombs, squatting, etc. They are anarchists by name only with little relevance to the rest of the anarchist milieu and no class analysis, let's venture into their secret underground "anarchy club". read full story / add a comment
