Ceci est une déclaration conjointe de First of May Anarchist Alliance et The Utopian: A Journal of Anarchism and Libertarian Socialism.
Nous devrions viser à convaincre le mouvement que le problème actuel aux États-Unis ne concerne pas seulement Wall Street, les entreprises ou le fait que le système économique est actuellement « manipulé » ou « truqué » par des individus égoïstes et rusés. Nous devons expliquer que la source de la crise c'est le système capitaliste lui-même, un système où la production n'a lieu que lorsqu'elle génère des profits qui sont ensuite en grande partie accaparés par la minuscule élite qui dirige le pays. Ainsi, nous devrions chercher à démontrer au mouvement que son objectif utlime devrait être la démocratisation radicale de toute notre société, ou, en d'autres mots, une révolution, par laquelle la vaste majorité de la population saisit des riches le contrôle de l'économie et du pays dans son ensemble pour ensuite disperser le plus largement possible le pouvoir et le contrôle direct sur tous les aspects de la vie sociale. Conséquemment, nous devrions proposer et appuyer les revendications radicales qui à la fois soutiennent cette perspective et unissent les secteurs de la population aussi largement que possible.

We should strive to convince the movement that the problem in the US today is not just Wall Street or the corporations or the fact that the economic system is somehow being “gamed” or “rigged” by tricky selfish individuals. We need to explain that the cause of the crisis is the capitalist system itself, a system in which production is carried on only when it results in profits, the vast majority of which go to the tiny elite that runs the country. Correspondingly, we should work to persuade the movement that its ultimate aim should be the radical democratization of our entire society, in other words, a revolution in which the vast majority of people seize control of the economy and the country as a whole from the rich and disperse power and direct control of all aspects of social life as widely as possible. As a result, we should propose and support radical demands that both point in this direction and unite the broadest sectors of the population. [Français]

When Mohammed Bouazizi set himself alight he unwittingly ignited a wave of popular uprisings and rebellions that have spread like wildfire across North Africa and the Middle East, the heat of which can be felt as far afield as Zimbabwe where, on Saturday 19th February, 46 pro-democracy activists including students, workers and trade unionists were arrested in Harare. According to police documents they were arrested for plotting an Egypt-style revolt to overthrow Robert Mugabe, who has been in power since 1980, at a meeting to discuss the fall of Hosni Mubarak and events in North Africa and the Middle East.
The arrested, who represent the Zimbabwean Federation of Trade Unions (ZCTU), Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZNSU) and the International Socialist Organisation (ISO), had just watched documentary news footage on the uprising in Egypt and, according to state prosecutors, were there to "organise, strategise and implement the removal of the constitutional government of Zimbabwe ... the Egyptian way". But the popularity of the movement, the attention it brings along, and the structure it has engendered threaten to push Anonymous away from the decentralized, collective movement it has been. From 20 to 23 January 2011, working class and revolutionary militants from throughout South Africa, including a ZACF delegation, gathered in Johannesburg for the Conference of the Democratic Left (CDL). The gathering ended in the launch of the Democratic Left Front (DLF) as a loose alliance of organisations and individuals in struggle. In explaining our relationship to the DLF, we will here summarise our reservations, while explaining why they are outweighed by the genuine achievements of the CDL. The reservations cover three main areas: attitudes towards the state and elections; leadership structures; and the DLF programme and demands. On Sunday 31st January 54 year old Khalid Mahmood was killed when the Immigration police invaded the house where he lived with three others. Khalid, an immigrant without papers from Pakistan, fell from the first floor when he tried to get away from the police trying to arrest him. Τι είναι τελικά το έθνος, ο εθνικισμός, ο πατριωτισμός; Μήπως ο πατριωτισμός είναι κι αυτός ένας συγκαλυμμένος εθνικισμός; Καμιά φορά ακόμα και τα πιο δημοκρατικά πνεύματα διολισθαίνουν στην προάσπιση της εθνικής ταυτότητας. Σχολείο, ΜΜΕ, κρατικοί φορείς, πολιτικά κόμματα συστηματικά προπαγανδίζουν την εθνική συνείδηση. Ως έθνος μπορούμε να θεωρήσουμε μια ομάδα πληθυσμού που έχει και διαμορφώνει κοινές αναπαραστάσεις σ’ ένα συγκεκριμένο ιστορικό πλαίσιο. Οι κοινωνικές διαδικασίες που τις διαμορφώνουν δεν είναι στατικές αλλά υπάρχουν μέσα σ’ ένα πλέγμα συγκρούσεων, αλλοιώσεων και διαφοροποιήσεων όπου αυτά τα κοινά στοιχεία αναφοράς συνεχώς μεταβάλλονται δημιουργώντας νέα δεδομένα και συνθήκες. Κατά την φεουδαρχία όπως και σε παλαιότερες κοινωνικές οργανώσεις, αν και υπήρχαν εθνολογικά στοιχεία ουσιαστικά αυτά συστηματοποιούνται με την κυριαρχία του καπιταλιστικού τρόπου παραγωγής και διαχέονται σαν κυρίαρχη ιδεολογία.
