Για περισσότερα από εξήντα χρόνια η Κυπριακή κοινωνία ζει πάνω σε μια διακοπτόμενη γραμμή στα κενά της οποίας διαρκώς τραυματίζεται. On January 3, 2017, Syrian refugees, joined by Iraqi refugees and international supporters, marched on the Russian embassy in Thessaloniki, Greece. An article reporting on the march quotes a Syrian refugee as follows:
“They are trying to kill all the flowers in Syria, but they cannot kill the Spring. The Spring is coming. We are here, they cannot kill all the Syrian people.”

Φυσικά, η Ελλάδα ως χώρα μέσου επιπέδου καπιταλιστικής ανάπτυξης, επιδιώκει τη γεωστρατηγική της αναβάθμιση πουλώντας γεωπολιτικές εξυπηρετήσεις όχι επειδή είναι ισχυρή και “ιμπεριαλιστική”, αλλά ακριβώς για τους αντίθετους λόγους: επειδή είναι στριμωγμένη στη γωνία. Ούτως ή άλλως, περισσότερο καθεστώς ανεπίσημου οιονεί προτεκτοράτου θυμίζει το καθεστώς διαρκούς οικονομικής εποπτείας και η επιβολή σκληρών και εξοντωτικών όρων δανεισμού για την ανατροφοδότηση του χρέους, καθώς και οι ρυθμίσεις που επιβάλει το “αριστερό” μνημόνιο, όπως η προγενέστερη έγκριση των δανειστών για νομοσχέδια που θα κατεβάζει η κυβέρνηση ή η αποδοχή της γερμανικής απαίτησης για τη δημιουργία ενός νέου αποθεματικού “υπερταμείου” ξεπουλήματος στρατηγικών τομέων της δημόσιας περιουσίας. read full story / add a comment

7 October 2016 marks the fifteenth anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan. Many Western leaders claimed the invasion, dubbed Operation Enduring Freedom, was a humanitarian intervention to liberate Afghans and especially Afghan women and girls from the brutal Taliban regime. However, the evidence demonstrates the results have been anything but humane or liberating. The people truly liberated by the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan are the wealthy investors in the military-industrial complex and those betting on successfully extracting Afghan resources and developing the infrastructure of the New Silk Road. read full story / add a comment
