More than 20,000 people demonstrated for electoral reforms across Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital, on Saturday in a rare protest that was declared illegal by police. The protest was called for by opposition groups, including the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections, Bersih. Police fired tear-gas and water cannons at demonstrators and arrested more than 1,400 people, including top opposition leaders, according to protest organisers. The activists' demands include an overhaul of voter registration lists, tougher measures to curb fraud and fairer opportunities for opposition politicians to campaign in government-linked media. Più di 20mila persona hanno manifestato sabato 9 luglio nella capitale Kuala Lumpur per la riforma elettorale in una manifestazione dichiarata subito illegale dalla polizia. La manifestazione, un caso raro nel paese, era stata indetta dai gruppi dell'opposizione, tra cui la Coalizione per Elezioni Libere e Sicure nota come Bersih. Plus de 20 000 personnes ont manifesté pour des réformes au processus électoral à travers la ville de Kuala Lumpur, la capitale de la Malaisie, durant la journée de dimanche alors que cette rare manifestation était déclarée illégale par la police.
