Institutional means to stop the war and militarization of society (bills, referendums, parliamentary initiatives, elections, any sort of pleas, “preaches”…), have proved, in many occasions, to be useless and hypocrite.

Institutional means to stop the war and militarization of society (bills, referendums, parliamentary initiatives, elections, any sort of pleas, “preaches”…), have proved, in many occasions, to be useless and hypocrite.

Italian government currently holds troops stationing in many coutries; new weapons and mass destruction structures setting-up projects (F-35, missile shield, military bases, industrial plans) are still being supported and developed, despite hundreds of thousands of people disapproving current warfare and riarmament policies.

A self-organizaed opposition, being able to involve workers, individuals, committees committed on local struggles against environmental pollution and harmfulness, anti-militarists and deserters, can still be able to stop this war machine.

It must be an anti-authoritarian opposition, free from any institutional charm and able to fight back adequately those political and economical powers that have been fiercely gone at civil rights and freedom.

Works in Dal Molin, to build Ederle 2, a new Pentagon military base, may start in july.

That is one more reason why militarism opponents from Vicenza and other places, in Italy and beyond, decided to meet and share ideas and suggestions to stop war and everything that makes it happen.

Petitions won’t stop war and militarism, only grass roots movements’ struggles can succeed!
