A commemoration of the anarchist militants of the 1970s and their struggle for the development of class-struggle, autonomous and revolutionary unions.

A commemoration of the anarchist militants of the 1970s and their struggle for the development of class-struggle, autonomous and revolutionary unions.

On 9th March 1976, just a few days before the military coup, the city of Cordoba was the scene of the kidnapping and disapearance of Marcelo Tello (a member of the anarchist organization Resistencia Libertaria), the kidnappings and later return of Soledad Garcia, a teacher and syndicalist and the general secretary of the SITRACAAF union, Rafael Flores, known as a libertarian.

As a part of this wave of repression the following people were also kidnapped: Miguel Ángel Donato (driver for the Unión SACIFIA), Hugo Suárez (metalworker), Carlos Ludueña (phosphate factory worker), Pedro Ventura Flores (worker at the Perkins plant and ex-delegate), Adolfo Luján (worker at the Perkins plant, member of the union management committee), Antonio Galán (construction worker), Orlando Campana (glass industry worker), the lawyers Miguel Hugo Vaca Narvaja, María Amparo Fischer and Miguel Ángel Oliva Vélez, and Mario Quirico Carranza (court employee).

We anarchists believe that it is important to remember our past, not only the past of those who struggled a century ago but also our more recent past, those comrades who struggled against ferocious economic policies, against the union bureaucracies and against the fiercest dictatorship in Argentina's history. Those militants were not separated from the labour struggles, but were an integral part of them.

On this the anniversary of that 9th March we want to remember and honour the anarchism that stood, fought, resisted and promoted organization not only in the factories but also in the neighbourhoods and the university. An anarchism in the forefront of the popular fights of the time.

Their struggle is our struggle!
