A Series of Introductory Discussions on Anarchism.

In Johannesburg the next few months will see a series of monthly discussions on anarchism with a member of the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Federation, which are intended to serve as a basic introduction to anarchism for anyone in the Jozi area.

These discussions, Red & Black Forums, will be hosted at Further, 21st Century counter culture store, 1 Olifants Rd, cnr 5th Ave, Emmarentia (next to Earth2 vegan restaurant).

Below is a rough outline of the intended programme, which may be altered slightly if those involved feel it appropriate to change the focus in order to better suit the audience or deal with specific issues or areas of interest as they arise.

10 Oct - An Introduction to Anarchism (basic theory - class, capitalism, state - and brief history; types of anarchism; Bakunin and the 1st International; how anarchists organise; relevance today)
14 Nov - Anarchism and the Anti-Globalisation movement (anarchist influence and involvement; shortcomings and threats; the insufficiency of the streets; taking the movement forward )
16 Jan - Anarchism and Non-Class Oppressions (racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia etc.)
13 Feb - Anarchism in southern Africa (brief history; possibilities for the future; building the movement & a way forward)
