Press release of the OCL (Chile) regarding the brutal acts of repression that took place on the 3rd of May in the Arauco province, in Southern Chile, in which the timber worker Rodrigo Cisterna, aged 26, ended up murdered by the Police bullets. We express our deep regret and sympathy towards the family, and our scorn towards the henchmen. The government of Michelle Bachelet is already stained with workers’ blood, exposing itself as nothing but the continuity of the repressive legacy of the previous governments of her coalition (Concertación). No crime, no martyr is to be forgotten. Struggle won’t stop, it will remain on the rise no matter all of their hitmen come out to the street against us to kill us. The people of Chile is waking up from its slumber and won’t be stopped by State violence. With Rodrigo Cisternas and all of our fallen ones in our memory, to struggle and to triumph we go!!!!!

In the face of the death of a fellow timber worker, of the dozens wounded and arrested as a result of the brutal repression of the Police against a road blockade in the Horcones processing facility belonging to Bosque Arauco (VIII Region), our party declares:

1.That while the government, parliamentarians and the Catholic church are calling to social peace and for dialogue between the workers on struggle and the Angelini group, the State is making too evident its class nature by defending the bourgeois interests through savage repression towards workers and with its calls to compromise while they murder our people.

2.That timber workers are an integral part of the multinational chain of production and that their capacity to go in practice beyond the narrow legal limits of the Bourgeois Rights, have serious repercussions in the economic field for both the Monopolist Capital and the Chilean State; and this makes violent repression the natural response of those in power in the face of a dignified people that said enough, thus starting a new stage in the proletarian struggles in our country.

3.That right now our people are showing that the road to the social victory is the unity in struggle against imperialism and its State supporter; this, by facing the Monopolist Timber Capital that robs us of our land, our resources and our lives, that is giving us starvation wages while the gang of Angelini is accumulating wealth of over U$3,193 million. This is, as well, the same road to unity with our brethren the Mapuche people.

4.That the people from the Coal district and the VIIIth region suffer on a daily basis from the blows of misery and unemployment; this situation cannot be tolerated any longer and has to lead to mass mobilization in the pursue of a dignified life, the one is already taking shape in the street protest of the neighbours from the towns of Cañete, Curanilahue and Laraquete, who already have four fellow workers wounded by the bullets of the Police.

5.That the only way to face the employers is going beyond the narrow legal constraints as have been demonstrated by our timber brethren, forging unity through direct action and the popular direct democracy. Our call to our people in this difficult moment is to unity. We call on the workers, the neighbours and the students to respond to repression by taking over the streets, to struggle, to practice solidarity with our class brethren and to march ahead towards the regional and national protest to gain the popular demands about a dignified life, denied by both the State and the rich.

¡¡¡ ARRIBA LOS QUE LUCHAN !!!
(UP THOSE WHO STRUGGLE)

¡¡¡ VENCEREMOS !!!
(WE WILL TRIUMPH)
