Anti-Iraq War Protest
On 15th February Australian Prime Minister John Howard visited New Zealand/Aotearoa to confer with his local counter-part, Helen Clark.
From the moment of his arrival Howard was met by anarchist, socialist and other anti-Iraq war protestors. A small contingent protested at the airport, followed by approximately 50 protestors who later assembled outside Premier House, where the two Prime Ministers met to discuss issues including their continued support for the war in Iraq.
During the protest, smoke bombs were thrown at police lines, a businessman had his car mildly damaged after attempting to ram the protestors and three demonstrators were arrested.
