The 50-day war on Gaza ended, after Israel begged for a ceasefire and yielded to major demands from Hamas (some kept in secret even from Israeli government ministers). A majority of Israelis admit that Israel did not win the war but with difficulty admit that Hamas had the upper hand. Ministers passed two weeks ago a classified Cabinet document containing a proposal to place an international force in Gaza, which may mean the end of Israel's occupation of the Gaza Strip and the opening of the Ghetto... and may be a precedent to what could be the end of the occupation of the West Bank). In Israel, the "radical" left is back to "normal"... though many more activists are contemplating joining the comrades who had already lost hope and emigrated. It seems the international pressures of the imperial powers and the advances of the boycott movement are bringing the end of the 1967 occupation sooner than expected. [Italiano]

5.9.14 Nabi Saleh.
The Israeli army violently suppressed the weekly Friday demonstration in the village of Nabi Saleh against the occupation and land theft. Locals, as well as solidarity activists, marched under the blazing sun from the village's Martyrs' Square towards the lands and the spring which were expropriated by Israel and are now being held by settlers from nearby Halamish.
The IOF fired barrages of tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets at demonstrators in an attempt to disperse them. No major injuries reported.

Nariman Tamimi: "I don't want to explain to you what the occupation is", Nariman Tamimi
told us, "I want you to come and see the occupation and tell me what peace
is". In this short video, Nariman, Bassem and Manal from Nabi Salih, a
small village on the West bank, talk about the Israeli occupation, the land-
and water grabbing by Israeli settlements, and the resistance of their
village against it. Recorded on July 28, during Israels attack on Gaza -

For five years residents of Sheikh Jarrah have been struggling against the settler takeover of their homes.
During the five years of struggle, the neighborhood has seen many demonstrations, and outrageous settler attacks.
Now the State of Israel has finally found someone to blame.
In the next week Salah Diab, a leader of the fight in the neighborhood, will begin an eight-month prison term.
Saleh is accused of assault by settler "neighbors". He claims that he was not there. The court criticized the improper conduct of the police during the investigation, but then chose to believe the version of the settlers and the judgment of Saleh was determined.
On Friday 29.8.2014 we returned to Sheikh Jarrah to say farewell to Saleh and ensure that the struggle will continue. About 100 participated in the vigil and in the march in the neighborhood (including a contingent of five of us just fresh from the Bil'in demo.)
