The Turkish state has once again closed Taksim Square for the millions on 1st of May which it used to ''open'' a couple of years ago. It attacked with its batons, water cannons, tear gas bombs and plastic bullets the people who wanted to be in Taksim Square on the 1st of May for their slain brothers and sisters. It has injured and taken many workers, revolutionists and oppressed ones into custody; it has not allowed ambulances to enter for the wounded... Last year, the Turkish State attacked the resisters as it did on previous forbidden 1st of Mays. But what happened that day didn't discourage the resisters, conversely the anger of the 1st of May sparked a revolt. To Taksim To WinThe Turkish state has once again closed Taksim Square for the millions on 1st of May which it used to ''open'' a couple of years ago. Days after the 1st of May, the roads which lead to Taksim were shut down by the police for the second time. The government wanted to shut down Taksim to the resisters who fight against State terror, police brutality and capitalist exploitation; who stand up for their lives, for freedom. But it couldn't succeed this time; the anger which began with the 1st of May grew larger and larger on 31st of May, and turned into a rebellion with hundreds of thousands of people filling up the streets. Even with the same brutality, with hours of clashes the police couldn't succeed; they couldn't close the streets or Taksim to resisters. On that day, it was called to account for the forbidden 1st of Mays, for the slain workers of '77, for the revolutionists we've lost during all these years, for poverty, for injustice... With this soul of revolt, the workers increased their fight against carrying out subcontracting work, against bosses, against work murders, against capitalism. They organized strikes and occupations against bosses who stole their bread, against capitalism which stole their lives. They occupied their factories and created their own producing areas, they trusted self-organizations, not syndicates. With the soul of revolt they took direct action, they increased the struggle day by day. On these days, like each year, the State says it has forbidden Taksim Square, closed it to workers by making up many excuses, it offers different locations for the 1st of May, it tries to isolate Taksim from the anger of the 1st of May. But it forgets something, the oppressed ones which it didn't count until this day, and who are winning with their own organizations. As always, we will be in Taksim on the 1st of May this year. Despite the police barricades, police brutality and State pressure, we will fight and won't back out from Taksim. Centuries before these days, with the faith in our comrades who were killed in 1886, we will be on the streets with anger of knowing that there are still workers and oppressed ones are being killed. We will burn the fire of revolt with Mehmet, Ali İsmail, Abdullah, Hasan Ferit, Ahmet, Medeni, Ethem and Berkin this year. We know that starting a revolt is winning the revolt!
