Palestine-Israel, the joint struggle to the backdrop of world turmoil*

category mashriq / arabia / iraq | community struggles | news report author Tuesday June 04, 2013 16:50author by Ilan S. - Anarchists Against the Wall; Matzpen; A-Infosauthor email ilan at shalif dot comauthor address Tel Aviv Report this post to the editors

For already more than two years the rebellion against the sharp intensification of global neo-liberalism is fermenting. The struggle against the local processes is overcoming efforts by the local elite to use intensifying conflicts with the Palestinians to "soften the resistance". The more dramatic wave of two years ago has passed but not without permanent ferment that is just waiting for a local or international trigger. There are very few who have persisted in the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall initiative throughout the 10 years of struggle, but new activists are taking the place of those who lost the energy and will to continue at the same level of activity - or have just left the country. The weekly persistent demos in Bil'in, Ma'sara, Ni'lin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, and Sheikh Jarrah hold the flag high. This week the uprising in Turkey is only the the freshest one of the new mode. Nabi Saleh

Friday 31/05/2013. Activist report around 70 teargas canisters have been shot by Israeli occupation forces at homes and civilians before the demonstration has even started. IOF have also blocked main road to Nabi Saleh in an attempt to prevent solidarity activists entering the village.

Demonstrators from the Ramallah-district village of Nabi Saleh, joined by Israeli and international activists, attempted to march towards 'Ayn al-Qaws, a spring expropriated by the nearby settlement of Halamish. Even before the demonstration started, IOF soldiers already advanced, invaded the village and randomly fired tear gas canisters. During the demonstration, the IOF attacked the marchers with massive barrages of tear gas canisters, rubber bullets and putrid skunk water even though not even one stone was hurled. A Palestinian youth was injured from rubber-coated steel bullets and dozens suffocated from tear gas.

"It's 2am, (between Saturday and Sunday) and we're outside the court house in Rishon Letzion, waiting for the arrestee from yesterdays'(Friday) demo in Qaddoum, who was released by the judge hours ago, but is still held by the prison services that seems to believe that occupation and apartheid opposers aren't supposed to get any rest"

Believe it or not, what happened yesterday (Saturday) in occupied Jerusalem:
The children Qassam Awar (7 years) and his brother Nasrallah Awar (6 years) were called to the Israeli occupation Russian Compound prison for interrogation in room No. 4 without the presence of their father who was severely beaten by Israeli occupation police when he went to pick them up from the compound.
