Reports from yesterdays demonstrations in Athens. A student is shot on the eve of protests, the police are using new and stronger tear gas and five more radio stations and one more TV station are occupied.
This article is about the direction of PKK , whether getting closer to the Idea of their leader , Ocalan, or not. In the same time it remind the supporters to the Kurdish in Rojava and Bakur, Turkey Kurdistan, the only solidarity attitude neither correct nor useful. They need to have a critical solidarity attitude.
In 2005, the Partiya Karkêren Kurdistani (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) (PKK) announced that it considered the nation-state a hindrance on the road to freedom, and that its strategic objective was not the establishment of a state but of an interlinked network of councils as the basis of self-determination and a new way of living together. The objective of this article is to discuss and explain the PKK’s understanding of politics as it evolved in the 2000s by looking at two concepts: ‘democratic autonomy’ and ‘democratic confederalism.’ This article will put these concepts in a historical and comparative perspective, and contextualise them in wider discussions in political and social sciences. The question central to this contribution is how these concepts make sense in the context of political theory, and how they have the potential to address fundamental shortcomings in modern democracy. Data has been collected by the study of primary sources and interviews.
Yanis Varoufakis is the Finance Minister of the new Greek government of the left-wing Syriza party. Describing himself as an "erratic Marxist," he has presented an overview of his political and economic opinions. This provides background information on the philosophy and strategy of Syriza's leaders, which can be critiqued from the perspective of anarchism.
On the 25th of January of 2015, for the first time in Greek history, a left-wing party, SYRIZA, won the general elections with a majority of 36.34%, 8.5 percentage points above Nea Dimokratia (“New Democracy”), the traditional right-wing party and the main force of the departing government coalition.
