The Catalonian CGT denounces the violent "clean-up" of Plaça de Catalunya in Barcelona and calls for peaceful, non-violent resistance and participation in solidarity demonstrations. [Català] The CGT denounces the "clean-up" of Plaça de Catalunya and calls for peaceful resistance and mobilizationThe Catalonian CGT strongly condemns the actions of the police this morning, Friday 27 May, against the protesters in Barcelona and Lleida, where personal belongings were seized, the squares cleared and violent repression out of all proportion was directed at people behaving calmly, all of which resulted in dozens of injured. We are alarmed about the spiral of police repression being promoted by Convergència i Unió (CiU) on the mandate of the Generalitat. We must not tolerate the imposition of a police State that represses the freedom of expression and movement, that does not allow people to use the streets for protest and freedom of dissent. We invite everyone to go to Plaça de Catalunya and support the participants in the protests and their support rallies involving hundreds. We invite similar initiatives in other locations, wherever protesters are being cleared out. In particular we appeal to everyone for massive participation in the demonstration called for Friday 27 at 7.00 pm in Plaça de Catalunya. In the light of these events, the CGT in Catalonia calls for peaceful, non-violent resistance. They say it's democracy, but it's not. They may clear the streets, but we will never give up our ideas. This is only the beginning. The struggle against cuts, against police repression and against the corrupt political leadership of those who govern us will go on.
No passaran!

No passaran!
