A revolutionary programme is, in a few words, a set of very precise and concrete proposals to advance towards profound social transformations. It is not revolutionary theory, but the application of this theory in order to comprehend and change a concrete society. It departs from an analysis of the current society, studies the current conditions of the terrain for the class struggle, identifies the most urgent problems and the conditions to develop a movement; studies potential allies and enemies; and proposes a series of changes, as well as a way to reach them by means of struggle.An article which discusses the anarchist programme from a revolutionary anarchist perspective. In it, the author analyses the need to make a qualitative shift from an anarchism which is restricted to propaganda circles, to an anarchism with the possibility of social transformation, putting forward a few basic considerations for the necessity of the development of revolutionary programmes in order to facilitate this shift.

Spring zu Komment: 1 2 3 4 5The type of questions that we need to be constantly asking ourselves in the anarchist movement.
Interesting piece although much of it is self-evident. The issue for me here in South Africa is threefold:
1) There is a clear need to establish deeper, layered analyses and tactical/strategic positions, along the lines the ZACF discussed last year in echo of the practice of the FdCA (Italy). For example, we would benefit from a fleshing out of our revolutionary aims with actual tactical/strategic options that advance our organisation’s position towards attaining each step of that programme. We have done this to an extent, but not anywhere near as explicitly and deliberately as we should, with a constant weather-eye towards widening the class rupture;
2) Neverthless, the question of “at what point does a propaganda organisation become a revolutionary political organisation?” is determined by a certain critical mass, a mass we have not yet attained. That is to say, it may prove difficult for the ZACF, even with active involvement in class struggle and a deep and clear tactical/strategic line, to transcend its limitations simply because of its small size. In truth it is only larger organisations that have the capacity to offer the oppressed classes practical lines of defense and attack… lines that they will adhere to because they are convinced by the visible benefits of an anarchist-communist approach;
3) Finally, despite the Catch-22 we find ourselves in, that transition can be achieved (and the Front grow) only by means of our social insertion – ie: our pragmatic involvement in struggles – and the influence of our ideas within the militant layers of the oppressed classes (which is by definition a propaganda effort, nomatter how well developed our theory). In South Africa, the actual gulf between exploiters and exploited is huge, but nationalist ideologies exercise a firm grip on the minds of the oppressed, so our task is to exacerbate the natural rift that yawns between the two class blocs. This is doable, but involves us, as always, punching above our bodyweight.

Great essay. One question, though, when the author refers to "we," does he use the term abstractly, or is this a position statement of some organization? Thanks.
Just a quick reply: in Latin America we tend to use "we" instead of "I" in political debate for our ideas are the product of a collective process (even if they are expressed individually). So "we" does not have any specific meaning in terms of a specific organisation, etc.

It can be more than pragmatically participation in the intersectional struggles. How ever, it need a clear understanding of how educational and revolutionary struggle can promote the future revolution.
If you do not have clear understanding how the daily struggle contribute to the changes in the minds of the common wage slave that will be expressed one day in an uprising and revolution you will surely waste efforts and miss opportunities.
It is not an invention of a wild psychologist that the capitalist system rule mainly by its control on human minds. It is well known that the most important contribution anarchists can do is to sow the seeds of doubt in the authoritarian capitalist system.
A revolutionary programme is, in a few words, a set of very precise and concrete proposals to advance the weakening of the hold of the capitalist ideology on the wage-slaves minds so they will erupt one day in a revolution that will bring about the profound social transformations.
