At one point, the Israeli anti-authoritarian anti-capitalist organization Matspen called for an international boycott of products from the new settlments, but it took years - and the help of radical Zionists - before the call started to have any effect. After the project to boycott products of the settlers gained momentum, Europe (which granted tax benefits to Israel) responded to the call by disallowing tax deductions on the settlers' produce, as the settled areas were no longer regarded as part of Israel, a fact which forced some of them to relocate to the old Israeli areas... If the call to boycott Israel and to treat it like the Apartheid regime of South Africa succeeds in gathering support, it may contribute to finally ending the occupation of Palestinan land resulting from a war that took place all of 40 years ago this year.

In this article Israeli anarchist Ilan Shalif, a long-time member of Matzpen now working with the Anarchists Against the Wall initiative, examines the relevance of a recent article by Shulamit Aloni, "Yes, There is Apartheid in Israel", which itself is a response to Jimmy Carter's book, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid".

So Saddam has been convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death. Few people will be shedding tears for the monster. The result was as unsurprising as the trial itself being hardly fair. Judges were replaced if they seemed like they were doing their job and being impartial. Lawyers and human rights organisations noted that it was prone to political interference and reduced to farce on occasion.

I’m an anarchist communist journalist and wrote this piece specifically for anarkismo.net. I entered Lebanon via Syria, from the north during the second half of the war, on the last access road not yet bombed by the Israelis (yet a plantation I travelled through was flattened an hour after I passed). I travelled mainly in Beirut and in its bombed southern suburbs, and in Sidon in the south as far south-east as the target of Ghazieh, leaving on the first military transport flight out after the ceasefire came into effect.

Photo: The stone arch of a monument under construction in Ghazieh frames a damaged Mercedes and the rubble of the home in which the 7-member Khalifeh and 14-member Badran families were killed and 28 others injured.

It was Israel's offensive on Gaza that sparked off the new war in Lebanon. Since it withdrew from Lebanon in 2000, Hezbollah has carefully avoided any clashes with the Israeli army on Israeli territory (limiting themselves to the area of Shaba in Lebanon, which continues to be occupied by the Jewish State). The moment chosen by the shia-ite fighters for their first attack, and the rhetoric that followed, indicates that their intention was to reduce pressure on the Palestinians by opening up a new front. Their action can therefore be seen as the first military act of solidarity with the Palestinians from the Arab world. Whatever one might think of what Hezbollah has done, it is important to understand the nature of Israel's war against the Palestinians in Gaza.

Ilan Shalif is already 70 but it does not prevent him arriving every Friday at the demonstration against the separation fence in Bil'in and confronting the soldiers of the Israeli IDF. Every Friday for the last year and a half, like a watch whose battery never runs out, he travels the road from Tel-Aviv to the Palestinian village of Bil'in.

The demonstrations at Bil'in also see the participation of left-wing Israeli activists, many from the extreme left like the Anarchists Against The Wall, who arrive from the centre of Israel and demonstrate side by side with the Palestinians. There are also international activists from organisations like the ISM and the foreign media, whose photos from the place are often published all over the world.

Embargo, cutting off water sources and air strikes against civilians have been some of the war crimes committed by the fascist Turkish state throughout this year against the revolution in Rojava.

While facing the internal political and economic crisis, the Erdogan government has to accept the failure of the military operations in the mountains of Kurdistan, appealing to the use of chemical weapons, in the face of the resistance of the Kurdish warriors of the revolution.

The intensification of the attacks last October, the flyers launched from the aeroplanes and the recent troop movements threaten a new invasion of the autonomous territories in the North and East of Syria.

At this delicate moment, we want to reaffirm our solidarity with our revolutionary comrades and all the peoples of Rojava and condemn once more the occupation of Rojava, the multiple aggressions and war crimes of the Turkish neo-fascist state and its jihadist allies, as well as their preparations for war.

Palestine looks back on a long history of women organizing dating back to as early as 1917, as well as a vibrant history of women’s social and political participation in the country. Nevertheless, the coordinated feminist protests that took place on 26 September 2019 took some by surprise.

The Melbourne Anarchist Communist Group’s solution to the oppression of the Palestinians is the same as for oppression everywhere. The problems of capitalism can only be solved by workers’ revolution. In Palestine, that means defeating Zionism and replacing it with the No State Solution, a society of libertarian communism that operates on the basis of consistent federalism.

kurdistan1_3.png imageDefend Kurdistan : statement for the international delegation Jun 18 04:38 by International Delegation for Peace and Freedom 0 comments

The UCL participated in the European delegation to observe the Turkish war crimes in Iraqi Kurdistan.
This delegation is taking place at a time when Erdogan is received at the NATO summit. His formal meeting with Macron does not hide his objective, which is obviously to legitimize his illegal invasion of Iraq, and to obtain from NATO a blank check to continue his military campaign.
His pretext: to eradicate the PKK, a "terrorist organization" according to the Council of Europe's blacklist.
His strategy: to intimidate European nations, to maintain bombings, military pressure and destruction of crops in Iraqi Kurdistan, to force Mahmoud Barzani's KDP to collaborate openly with him, against its brothers and sisters in Kurdistan.
At the time of publishing this information, the conference of the delegation has been prevented by the KDP, the hotel where it is held is surrounded by the military, and our comrades have been sent back to France after interrogation by the police of the KDP, traitor to the Kurdish cause.

We – nearly 150 politicians, human rights advocates, journalists, academics, members of parliaments, political activists, ecologists, and feminists from all over Europe – have been closely following the dangerous developments resulting from Turkey’s attacks on South Kurdistan (North Iraq) since the 23rd of April 2021. As a result, we have gathered in Erbil today and decided that we must speak out.

Last night have shown the result of the accumulation of anger of the youth who are the main victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and crisis. There is a much increase of unemployment which brought the increase of pressure on Palestinians in Jerusalem and the multiethnic cities within Israel, as well as the intensity of police brutality in order to suppress the rallies and other mobilisations.

textWe condemn the Turkish state attack and invasion of the Iraqi Kurdistan Jun 26 07:12 by Azadixwazan 4 comments

At the time when the Covid-19 is spread around the world and is a huge threat to people’s lives, a few days ago (16/06) the Turkish state launched an aggressive attack on Iraqi Kurdistan and invaded many villages and small towns. In its intensive attack, both from the sky and on the land, it so far killed many innocent people, livestock, and destroyed anything they had: their houses their villages and lands. Their justification for this massive attack is defending their borders and fighting against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, PKK.

2644.jpg imageWe condemn the Turkish state attack and invasion of the Iraqi Kurdistan Jun 25 22:46 by Kurdish-speaking Libertarians 0 comments

The support and solidarity with innocent people can be done in different ways. It can be through launching complaints, expressing anger and frustration, protests, and demonstrations. The best kind of support and solidarity is boycotting all the goods that are made in Turkey and by Turkish companies wherever they are. Boycotting its media, universities, language colleges and stopping holiday bookings to Turkey. While Turkey has got so many interests in Iraqi Kurdistan the boycott is very effective. Turkey has hundreds of companies plus colleges, shops, factories there, and it is the main country for Kurdish holiday makers. In short Iraqi Kurdistan is one of the main market for the Turkish capitalists and the others. Boycotting Turkey and the Turkish goods can also put pressure on the Kurdistan Reginal Government, KRG, Iraq and the foreign companies to meet people’s demand.

Why write about sadism and shamelessness now? Because it’s worse, it’s complex and its causes and effects need to be better understood. Its physical and psychological manifestations are day-to-day, uninhibited, and public: daily extra-judicial police killings like George Floyd in Minneapolis, the police killing of 32-year-old Iyad el-Hallak in Jerusalem, Muslims in India.
