To move ahead and build international solidarity, all the movements must come together on a European scale. The capitalists know how to organise on that level and how to adopt the treaties they expect to seal peoples’ fates with. We, the working men and women of Europe, have not yet achieved this level of organisation, even though alternative forms of trade union organistion have found ways to converge. This effort must be pursued, and a response organised on an international level. [Français] [Ελληνικά] [Nederlands] ... read full story / add a comment

The International Relations Secretariat of the Ελευθεριακή Συνδικαλιστική Ένωση (Libertarian Syndicalist Union - ESE) has sent the following summary of the recent measures adopted by the government which are responsible for unleashing the fury of the Greek people, who see how their lives and work are being trampled for the greater glory of the bosses, the financial sharks and speculators. The labour reform already in progress will lead to an unprecedented casualization: €426 a month, no unemployment benefit, no holidays, no maximum hours limit, no insurance, no paid bank holidays and no time off. This reform will simply swap a contract with rights for a new one which is cheaper for businesses, without any protection for workers. [Castellano] ... read full story / add a comment

Decades of rampant neoliberalism, and now Western economies are being faced with the bill. Decades of wage cuts, privatization, public service cuts, the shifting of wealth from production to finance, are now handing over the bill to various States. The general strike called for 6th September 2011 by the CGIL and most of the grassroots unions comes at a crucial time for the fate of the working class in Italy, to a backdrop of an increasingly violent crisis throughout the continent which is hitting the living conditions of Europe's proletariat. For the Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT), calling the executive order approved today by the government a "Shock Plan" to promote stable employment is merely making a mockery of the 4.7 million unemployed people in the country. The measures approved by the cabinet is the product of an anti-social pact made a few days ago by the Socialist Government, the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations (CEOE), the Spanish Confederation of SMEs (CEPYME) and the UGT and CCOO unions. We will be supporting and participating in the demonstrations called by the FIOM on 16th October as we consider it to be an important occasion for everyone to demonstrate their OPPOSITION, to boost levels of class consciousness, to oppose the neoliberal policies of the increasingly greedy bosses and a political oligarchy that is increasingly in difficulty. Greece is a test case for the social dismantling that awaits us all. This policy is being enacted by all the institutional parties, by every government and by all of globalised capitalism's institutions. There is only one way to hold back this policy of barbaric capitalism: popular direct action, to widen the strike movement and increase the number of demonstrations all across Europe. Among the various "urgent" matters set out in the articles of the Italian government's latest executive order, some stand out as being apparently incongruous, such as the re-financing of military missions, the abrogation of local housing tax, a boost for the high-speed TAV train line, funding for oil and gas exploration in the Adriatic and for nuclear research, and further donations to the bosses in the form of greater flexibility and precarity. ... read full story / add a comment

Red Libertaria believes that this conflict is nothing but a struggle between the bourgeoisie inside the model inaugurated by Duhalde and continued by Nestor and Cristina Kirchner and we point to the fact that workers will continue to be laid off whoever wins, until we organize and stand up to fight for our own demands and conquests. The planned merger of French energy firms Gaz de France (GdF) and Suez has been kick-started again by the French government. The privatization of GdF is thus well and truly on the way, contrary to what Nicolas Sarkozy had announced in 2004. This government is completely at the service of the French employers federation, the Medef, and it is to the Medef alone that it keeps its promises. ... read full story / add a comment

The 2007 Budget has the hands of the European Union around its neck. Lowering the GDP/deficit ratio to below 3% as priority and reducing the debt - this is what the government hopes to achieve by cutting public expenditure and finding new resources. And instead of redistributing the wealth, this work of frenzied accountancy rakes in billions of Euro by getting the money from the usual places - from our wages, our severance pay, and from the pensions of workers of all kinds. ... read full story / add a comment

In the tragic and bloody framework of the wars (both geopolitical wars and wars for the sake of war) for the strategic control of raw materials, which from the Middle East to Central Asia sees a clash of imperialist interests for the control of energy resourses and of the various corridors needed to bring oil, gas and water out of the area, the stakes have been raised by Putin's (and Gazprom's) Russia on the very eve of Putin taking over the presidency of the G8 and Gazprom placing 49% of its juicy shares on the market. ... read full story / add a comment
