American politics, as the midterm elections demonstrated, have descended into the irrational. On one side stands a corrupt liberal class, bereft of ideas and unable to respond coherently to the collapse of the global economy, the dismantling of our manufacturing sector and the deadly assault on the ecosystem. On the other side stands a mass of increasingly bitter people whose alienation, desperation and rage fuel emotionally driven and incoherent political agendas. It is a recipe for fascism. ... read full story / add a comment

Veterans Day, which Americans celebrate on November 11, was originally called Armistice Day, to commemorate the cessation of fighting in the Great War of 1914-1918. In the United States, the idea that this was “the war to end all wars,” (a phrase coined by H.G. Wells in a pamphlet of that name and echoed by Woodrow Wilson with equal earnestness) was challenged by an outspoken and persecuted peace movement, including poor farmers and black Americans conscripted at disproportionate rates. ... read full story / add a comment

Identity politics, born out primarily by the group APOC (Anarchist People of Color, Illvox) to discuss race within the context of the anarchist movement, has been a major part of anarchist discourse since around 2002 when the APOC network was formed.

Beyond this narrow understanding of identity in terms of the language of “political correctness” is an effective strategy. The strategy one should aim for is past identity politics altogether in a land where comrades seek to empower all members of the anarchist community and have respect for their comrades and themselves.

Sometimes public policy disputes become transformed into symbolic conflicts that go to the heart of national identity. The "mosque controversy" was initially a mere zoning question. It is now a symbolic conflict over the place of Muslims in our national life.

The world financial system is approaching complete collapse in the next few years. 21st century Anarchism is a paradigm for a money-free society. There are no transition stages from capitalism to communism. hen the world's money loses all of its value then civilization itself will begin to collapse. Unfettering capitalism from the money system ushers in the spontaneous emergence of unfettered society that transcends the ideals of capitalism and communism. ... read full story / add a comment
