While US media has focused on Hurricane Sandy's destruction in the nation, the historic storm's global impact started days ago in Caribbean nations. In Haiti, the storm has left worries of a food crisis and another cholera outbreak, while the "disaster of decades of policies" by the international community compounds misery. ... read full story / add a comment

Antanke sitwayen ayisyen ki renmen peyi li, mwen pa asepte ditou prezans MINUSTAH an Ayiti. Plis lane ap pase, plis lendiyasyon ap monte nan kè mwen, nan tèt mwen, devan lokipasyon degize sa a k’ap kouri sou uit lane. ... read full story / add a comment

Depi 8 lane deja, chak 15 oktòb, l ONI renouvle kontra MINISTA a, dekwa pou fòs politik ame sa a swadizan genyen yon “legalite” pou okipe peyi nou an.

Tout moun konnen ekzaksyon tout kalite, krim, vòl, vyòl ak represyon tribòbabò fòs lanmò sa yo simaye nan peyi a depi yo vini a. Tout moun viv imilyasyon fòs politik Minista yo blayi anwo dirijan “ayisyen” yo ansanm ak sou tout fòmasyon sosyal la an jeneral. Tout moun ka wè aklè tou, fòs sa yo pa vini vre pou “mete sekirite ak lapè nan peyi a” (si se te sa, nou ta pito di yo vini pou mete sa yo rele “lapè simityè” a), non: yo pito vini pou bay pwojè enpeyalis la sekirite! Vreman vre, se yo ki prensipal bakòp desizyon anbasad prensipal peyi enpeyalis yo - lò sila yo pa vini kareman ak pwòp fòs militè pa yo, tankou nou te ka wè aprè latètranble janvye 2010 la. ... read full story / add a comment

... read full story / add a comment

... read full story / add a comment

A rogue paramilitary group has established a presence in Haiti by parading around both Haiti’s capital and the countryside dressed in mismatched military uniforms and carrying assorted weapons. This group of veterans and new recruits has begun to threaten the sensitive security situation in Haiti, demanding the reinstatement of the country’s armed forces, which was summarily disbanded in 1995 due to its violent record of abusing civilians during the constitutional government of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. ... read full story / add a comment

It’s one thing to be proud of an accomplishment, such as reducing the amount of homelessness by constructing homes—but it is irresponsible and criminal to attack, forcefully evict, and destroy thousands of shelters consisting of battered tents and tarps, then brag internationally about seeing a reduction in the levels of visible homelessness. Yet this is exactly what is happening right now in Haiti. Unfortunately the forced eviction of the internally displaced not a new phenomenon. If this is the way success is measured by the Haitian government and the International Organization of Migration (IOM), it should come as no surprise why some of Haiti’s most vulnerable are increasingly protesting their living conditions and the constant threat of eviction. ... read full story / add a comment
