Around 30 Republican prisoners continue to engage in a ‘dirty protest’ in Maghaberry prison over the failure of the Northern Ireland Administration and the Prison Officers Association to implement a facilitated agreement reached between all parties last August. This is part of a wider criminalisation policy to punish, brutalize and isolate prisoners which includes regular beatings and strip-searching - which remains the outstanding issue to be resolved. Somos conscientes de que una derrota del movimiento popular hondureño no se limitaría a las fronteras de Honduras, sino que envalentonaría al imperialismo yanqui y a los sectores más reaccionarios de la burguesía latinoamericana para asegurar el “blindaje” de sus democracias e, incluso, revertir las tímidas medidas de los gobiernos “latinoamericanistas” destinadas a incrementar la participación popular en los asuntos nacionales y regionales y a disminuir la injerencia del imperialismo yanqui en los asuntos regionales.
