Founder of the Uruguayan Anarchist Federation (FAU), an especifista anarchist organisation, Alberto "Pocho" Mechoso was also a unionist in the Meat Workers Federation and an active militant of the Organización Popular Revolucionario Orientales – 33 (OPR-33), the armed wing of the FAU that supported strikes and conducted kidnappings and expropriations of employers to finance the struggle.
In his later years, "Pocho" was active in the Popular Party for Victory (PVP), an organisation that dissolved the FAU within it. "Pocho" remained together with other comrades of the FAU within the PVP with the intention of re-establishing the especifista organisation.
Arrested in Buenos Aires on September 26, 1976, his body was found with seven others on the seabed, in barrels filled with cement, on May 23, 2012. We remember this comrade who, even without having known him, is very dear to us. His example will be present in our militant struggle, today and forever.

The Palestinians persist in the Tsumud mode of resistance. Israeli and international activists join whenever they can - mainly in the region of the hills south of Hebron and the Jordan river. Israeli state forces increase their efforts to exclude the internationals but limited by world PR. In spite of the warmongering, the world economic recession, and the hot weather, the social struggle continues in the main cities. The focus of repression of the joint struggle against the occupation and settler colonialist encroaching lands near settlements was a day after day invasion and harassment in the heroic village of Nabi Saleh. Por estos días nuestro compañero, Hébert Mejías Collazo, el viejo, ha tenido que sobrellevar algunos problemitas de salud. Motivo por el cual –entre otras cosas- hemos extrañado sus permanentes mensajes de aliento y solidaridad con los que luchan. This year marks the 76 anniversary of the ‘Spanish Civil War’ which is one of the most mis-understood conflicts in the 20th century. For some particular those wedded to a traditional view of history the war was merely between the forces of fascism and those committed to defending the democratically elected Republican Government. It is also this time of year when we will be greeted with a range of lectures and talks organised by the Communist Party inspired International Brigades Commemoration Committee across Ireland which deliberately distorts the reality of the 'civil war'. However, for anarchists nothing could be further from the truth. La Encuesta de Población Activa (EPA) del II Trimestre de 2012, hecha pública hoy, indica una nueva cifra histórica del paro llegando a alcanzar el 24,63% de la población activa, lo que ratifica que la reforma laboral del gobierno era para facilitar el despido y hacerlo más barato. Se i soldi non fossero i nostri..., sì insomma se i soldi non fossero proprio le migliaia di miliardi di euro che in questi ultimi 5 anni gli Stati della UE ci hanno risucchiato attraverso il fisco, oppure rapinato attraverso i tagli su stipendi e pensioni, servizi pubblici e posti di lavoro, oppure ancora scaricando i costi del debito pubblico su disoccupazione e precarizzazione in una crisi al buio, allora potremmo anche pensare che il "buon" governatore della Banca Centrale Europea si stia giocando una partita a poker contro quella cricca di misteriosi speculatori e contro i sempre serviti giocatori della Buba, che barano a spese delle nostre vite e sul nostro futuro. E' veramente lui che ha la mano buona, "enough" (sufficiente) per far calare lo spread e ridare fiato alle Borse, che basta dirlo ed accade per magia?

Se cacarea mucho desde los grandes monopolios de la comunicación, esos medios de prensa, radio y televisión en manos de los grupos económicos que controlan el resto de la riqueza nacional, que la crisis de los países de la periferia europea (Grecia, Irlanda, Portugal, España) la han causado los “Estados de bienestar” y sus gentes, “viviendo por encima de sus posibilidades”, y presentan con suficiencia la grave crisis en que se encuentra sumida la Unión Europea como una prueba irrefutable de la ineficiencia del Estado como distribuidor de la riqueza y propietario y la superioridad de la economía de mercado para proporcionar progreso y bienestar. Se trata de una defensa indisimulada del modelo chileno, que se coloca como ejemplo de “buenas prácticas”. No es más que una falsedad sin sustento alguno. Presentaremos desde esta tribuna los verdaderos motivos de la crisis europea y señalaremos a sus causantes.
