Picket lines have returned to Insomnia Cookies, less than two weeks after the company settled with four workers who struck in August of 2013. On Friday March 14, two dozen union members and supporters rallied in front of the Boston location of Insomnia Cookies, demanding the reinstatement with back pay of union organizer and bicycle delivery “driver,” Tasia Edmonds. On March 9 the company suspended Edmonds without pay for a month, alleging insubordination, while the union maintains she was disciplined for her union-building efforts. read full story / add a comment

On June 21st, hundreds of food service workers initiated a strike against the Philadelphia-based Food Service company, Aramark, walking off the job and picketing at Boston’s two biggest convention centers: the Hynes Convention Center (HCC) and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC). 350 food workers at the two convention centers, members of Unite Here Local 26, have been without a contract since October, and the company called off all negotiations in May. read full story / add a comment

This Tuesday, “Super Tuesday,” Massachusetts voters will turn in for the Primaries to cast their ballots along with voters in 23 other states. Though it is still very early in the election season, we are already down to 4 candidates for President—two republicans, two democrats, and not one good choice.

This Tuesday, January 5th, anti-authoritarians in Boston will participate in the Northeast Anarchist Network’s campaign to “Discredit Representative Democracy and Promote Direct Democracy,” by answering the call of the Anti-Democratic National Convention organizers—Unconventional Denver—for an International Day of Action against the US elections (See their call below) read full story / add a comment

Today, thousands of riot police from the Federal Preventative Police (PFP), armed with shields, batons, and automatic weapons, began the invasion of Oaxaca City, the capital of Oaxaca state, Mexico. The federal forces, under the cover of snipers in helicopters, are using light tanks, water cannons, and bulldozers to slowly remove the hundreds of barricades that have blocked the streets of Oaxaca City since the police were run out of town in June by protesters demanding the resignation of the state governor, Ulises Ruiz Ortiz. read full story / add a comment
