Articolo originariamente scritto in spagnolo per l'ultimo numero del giornale anarchico cileno "Solidaridad". I fatti recenti che hanno scosso il Venezuela dimostrano non sono il livello di interferenza degli USA nella regione o la pervasiva tendenza a minacciare colpi di stato all'interno della elite venezuelana la quale ben conosce il manuale cileno per una stratega dei colpi di stato. Si evince soprattutto come ci siano tensioni latenti all'interno del modello venezuelano, il quale dovrebbe iniziare a funzionare dal basso, tramite la lotta. Oggi più che mai ai rivoluzionari sono necessari gli strumenti della critica, piuttosto che l'attitudine alla passiva approvazione di qualsiasi cosa decida di fare la dirigenza bolivariana. Article originally written in Spanish for the latest issue of the Chilean anarchist paper Solidaridad- The recent events that have shaken Venezuela reflect not only the level of interference that the USA maintains in the region or the pervasive coup-mongering trend in the Venezuelan elite which knows by heart the manual of the Chilean coup strategy. It primarily reflects the latent tensions in the Venezuelan model which should start to work themselves out from below, through struggle. Today more than ever we need critiques to be the essential tool of revolutionaries, rather than the attitude of passive approval of everything the Bolivarian leadership does. Hace dos semanas, Nosotros los Pobres tuvimos la buena fortuna de poder presentar un taller que contaba con dos integrantes del Frente de Estudiantes Libertarios de Chile, con quienes tuvimos un intercambio sumamente productivo de ideas. Pocos días después, llegue a ver una declaración publicada por el FEL en la cual afirmaban su apoyo al “pueblo venezolano “ en su lucha contra el golpismo. Como miembro de Nosotros los Pobres, quería compartir algunas reflecciones sobre lo que pasa en Venezuela, tanto ahora como a través de los últimos 15 años; espero que sean de interes para mis compañeros especifistas como también para las personas que generalmente se han preocupado por el caso venezolano. leggi tutto / aggiungi un commento

Horizontalism is an emerging term used to describe the key common characteristics of the waves of rebellion of the last decade. Occupy in 2011 was the peak to date but the term Horizontalism itself appears to originate the rebellion in Argentina after the 2001 banking crisis there. Marina Sitrin in her book on that rebellion says the term (in Spanish obviously) was used to describe the neighborhood, workplace & unemployed assemblies that emerged to form "social movements seeking self-management, autonomy and direct democracy."

The nostalgic left is a bit of shorthand I’ve started using for those on the left who have reacted to the disintegration of the old left by wishing for idealised simpler times. And perhaps more strangely blaming the collapse on what they see as threatening new developments, like intersectionality. Todo indica que el 2014 será un año negro para los movimientos populares desde el punto de vista de la represión. Empezamos con asesinatos, desapariciones, arrestos masivos y selectivos, amenazas paramilitares a los miembros de organizaciones políticas de oposición como Marcha Patriótica, la Unión Patriótica y el Polo Democrático Alternativo, así como a organizaciones sociales campesinas, comunitarias, de mujeres, indígenas, etc. Tres hechos fundamentales convergen en el 2014 para que la maquinaria de muerte y terror del Estado esté bien aceitada y trabajando a todo vapor. Primero, que este es un año electoral. Segundo, que es un año clave para el proceso de paz. Tercero, que será un año de renovadas protestas sociales ante el incumplimiento de los acuerdos con los movimientos sociales por parte del gobierno tras los formidables paros del 2013. This is a review of Ronald D. Tabor, The Tyranny of Theory: A Contribution to the Anarchist Critique of Marxism (2013). Marxism, like anarchism, came out of movements for democracy, socialism, and working class liberation. Its goals were for a free, cooperative, classless, stateless, and nonoppressive society. Yet Marxism ended up establishing totalitarian, mass murdering, state capitalist, regimes. This is the paradox of Marxism. Why did this happen? Se cumplen doce años de las históricas jornadas del 19 y 20 de diciembre del 2001. De la rebelión que no nació de un estallido de bronca, sino que fue la culminación de un proceso constituido a partir de los piqueteros de Cultral-Có, de Tartagal y Mosconi, de Plaza Huincul y del Puente Pueyrredón; de la Carpa Blanca y la resistencia obrera a las privatizaciones, de la lucha estudiantil contra la Ley Federal de Educación, de las coordinadoras y movimientos de trabajadores desocupados, las organizaciones políticas y sociales, y de una gesta popular sin precedentes que puso en cuestión la gobernabilidad de un régimen agotado. Doce años después, envueltos en un proceso signado de rupturas y continuidades donde se sigue perpetuando y padeciendo la misma matriz económica saqueadora de los recursos naturales y que no logra dar respuestas de fondo a las problemáticas del pueblo, se abre un nuevo desafío y perspectiva política para los movimientos sociales, los trabajadores y el conjunto de los oprimidos y oprimidas del campo popular. Sin lugar a dudas uno de los sucesos que más ha dado de que hablar en los últimos días es la destitución de Gustavo Petro como alcalde de la ciudad de Bogotá y su inhabilitación para ejercer cargos públicos durante 15 años según un fallo emitido por la Procuraduría General de la Nación. Según este órgano de vigilancia estatal, la medida obedece a las presuntas irregularidades presentadas en el cambio de esquema para la recolección de basuras implementado mediante un decreto en Diciembre del año 2012. La decisión fue dada a conocer a la opinión pública en boca del procurador Ordóñez a comienzos de esta semana y desde ese momento las distintas reacciones no se han hecho esperar. leggi tutto / aggiungi un commento

We are living in a world that for most people is broken and that has broken most people. It is not a god given world, but one that has been constructed by those in power and that has left most people mired in deprivation. Under COVID-19, this world has sunk to new lows. All is not lost though. There has historically been a section within the progressive movement – in different parts of the world and in South Africa – based around forms of radically democratic socialism that has not only tapped into the righteous anger of the working class, but has also sought to create a home and sense of belonging for people based on progressive values and principles such as mutual aid, solidarity and even love. If we want a better world, we need to revive the popularity of the types of politics, ethics, values, principles and practices that formed the essence – at their best – of such movements and update it for the context of the 21st century. more >>
