southern africa / history / interview Friday February 09, 2007 19:06 by Alan Lipman, Johannesburg   text 1 comment (last - thursday october 22, 2009 18:50)
This is an edited version of a talk given by veteran communist Alan Lipman who participated in drawing up the Freedom Charter in 1955, about why he left the Communist Party and the ANC, subsequently becoming an anarchist. He was addressing a two-day workshop held by the ZACF at the invitation of the Anti-Privatisation Forum, on class, capitalism, apartheid, neo-liberalism and the ANC, which was held at the headquarters of the Orange Farm Crisis Committee on May 21 this year (2006). The talk was given in English and translated into seSotho. read full story / add a comment

On Saturday 10th February the ZACF will be holding an anarchist political education workshop at a hostel in Sebukeng township, south of Johannesburg. This is the third workshop the ZACF will be doing at the invitation of the Working Class Crisis Committee, an Anti-Privatation Forum affiliate. It is an indication that anarchist ideas are being seriously considered and proving of interest to struggling communities in the region. read full story / add a comment

This is a public statement by the People's United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO), the mainstream political opposition movement in Swaziland. We, the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Federation (ZACF) of southern Africa, also organise in Swaziland and support the pro-democracy movement, but agitate for it to go beyond the usual bourgeois betrayal and involve a destruction of the Swazi capitalist state and its replacement by decentralised popular assemblies of communities and producers. As the only revolutionary organisation in Swaziland, our members are among those who have suffered jail at the hands of the monarchist police, so our position is directly informed by personal experience. read full story / add a comment
