Quell'indipendenza proclamata dall'Ucraina nel 1991, all'indomani della disintegrazione dell'URSS, valeva ben poco. Non lo sapevano forse i nazionalisti ucraini, ma era ben chiaro alle "nuove" elite dominanti a Mosca. Bisogna aspettare il 1994 perché la Russia si impegni a garantire l'integrità territoriale ucraina, prendendosi però in carico il suo arsenale atomico. read full story / add a comment

Η ανατροπή του αυταρχικού καθεστώτος του Γιανουκόβιτς σε καμία περίπτωση δεν σημαίνει για εμάς το τέλος του αγώνα μας. Νέοι δικτάτορες σπεύδουν να πάρουν τη θέση του Κόμματος των Περιφερειών. La crisi in Ucraina assomiglia troppo a quella che negli anni novanta devastò la Jugoslavia. In Jugoslavia l'ultimo atto della guerra venne rappresentato dall'"operazione tempesta" nella Krajina croata e vide l'espulsione in massa della popolazione serba che abitava quelle regioni da secoli. Analogia nel nome, questione etimologica si, ma che cela la sostanza delle vicende comuni ad una zona appunto di frontiera, Ucraina come Krajina hanno lo stesso significato, terra di confine, frontiera. read full story / add a comment

Il rovesciamento del regime autoritario non significa in nessun senso per noi la fine della nostra lotta. Nuovi dittatori sono pronti a prendere il posto del Partito delle Regioni. Essi non si faranno scrupolo nell'impiegare non solo le indebolite forze di sicurezza, ma anche i militanti di estrema destra. Il regime di polizia e di arbitrarietà giudiziaria ha meritato senza dubbio di essere rovesciato, ma adesso potrebbe essere giunto il tempo per un nuovo terrore che giustificherà ideologicamente la propria legittimità. The overthrow of the authoritarian regime of Yanukovych by no means signifies for us the end of our fight. New dictators hasten to take the place of the Party of Regions. They will not hesitate to rely not only on considerably weakened security agencies, but on the far right militants as well. The regime of police and prosecutorial arbitrariness deserved its overthrow unconditionally, but now there may come a time for a new terror that will justify itself ideologically. Όσα διαδραματίζονται αυτές τις μέρες στην Ουκρανία είναι το ξέσπασμα μιας μακράς ιστορικά περιόδου, που περιλαμβάνει πολλές αντιθέσεις και συγκρουόμενες δυνάμεις. Δεν είναι ασήμαντο το γεγονός ότι όλα όσα βλέπουμε αυτές τις μέρες συμβαίνουν σε ένα κράτος του λεγόμενου δυτικού κόσμου. Όσοι δεν έχουν υπόψη τους το νήμα που συνδέει αυτές τις μέρες με το παρελθόν της Ουκρανίας ίσως και να ξαφνιάστηκαν για το πώς θα μπορούσε να ξεσπάσει ένας εμφύλιος πόλεμος, εκεί όπου οι πολιτισμένοι εξουσιαστές λύνουν συνήθως τις διαφωνίες τους στα διπλωματικά τραπέζια. For weeks and weeks, we have been looking at Ukrainian events, trying to make sense of what has been happening in Kyiv and other cities. We had read many texts, comments and interviews and discussed about Maidan, but we had been always arriving only at new questions to be answered. Thus, when a possibility occurred to get in touch with Ukrainian comrades one of us tried to use it as best as he could. As a result of that effort and thanks to kindness and patience of Denis from a Kyiv branch of a revolutionary syndicalist group called Autonomous Workers Union the following interview came into existence. Не очень мирная демонстрация под Верховной Радой столкнулась с силами правоохранительных органов и подразделениями сторонников нынешней власти. 18 февраля полиция вместе с парамилитарами устроила бойню в правительственном квартале, было убито неустановленное количество демонстрантов. Мясники из спецподразделений избивали арестованных. Депутаты правящей Партии Регионов и буржуйских подголосков из «Коммунистической» Партии Украины сбежали из парламента по подземному переходу. Much of the mainstream media presents the image of a confrontation taking place between the two statist political factions in Ukraine: The governing coalition, led by President Yanukovich, which has recently backed away from a trade agreement with the EU, and is developing a close subservient relationship with Russia; and the smaller nationalist opposition, headed by the parties called the Blow, Homeland and Freedom, opposing this development and seeking to attach Ukraine more strongly to the EU. ---- This image is far from representing reality.
