O ataque com drone realizado pelos Estados Unidos no Iraque, ocorrido no dia três de janeiro de 2020 incendiou o Oriente Médio, abrindo maiores possibilidades a respeito da escalada das tensões entre a República Islâmica do Irã e os Estados Unidos da América. As palavras que seguem procuram fazer uma “abordagem compreensiva”, como uma análise mais de corte teórico, com aportes ideológicos para além da geopolítica clássica aplicada no Oriente Médio. Tampouco quero reproduzir a trama no Sistema Internacional em si. Como alguém que estuda a região há três décadas, sem contar com o envolvimento no apoio político às causas da Unidade Árabe, Libertação da Palestina (dois povos, dois Estados), soberania política do Líbano (país de meus ancestrais paternos) e direito e reconhecimento de etnias sem território e minorias perseguidas, tenho o cuidado de ao menos aportar informação precisa e conceitos com o rigor necessário para interpretar os fenômenos. Este texto também pode ser lido como um manifesto CONTRA uma visão orientalista da região, essencialista do fenômeno do islã político e utilitária dos destinos dos povos. read full story / add a comment

While major powers, such as Russia, France, the UK, and the US, and regional powers such as Iran, Israel and Turkey participated directly, they had their Syrian proxies to fight against one another.
