The ferment and anger increase in the general population of the occupied west bank and Gaza. The already two weeks daily evening stone throwing of the Shabab of Qalandia at the Israeli check post. The economic ferment of unemployed in the west bank forced Israel to admit economic support in fear of the collapse of the Palestinian authority. The more than 50 thousands of Palestinians working daily in Israel are part of this economic compromises. However, the Israeli efforts to transfer out farmers from the agrarian areas of C category intensify with the unofficially help of the settlers. The involvement of the Israeli activists in Nabi Saleh, Beit Ummar and South of Hebron Hills area are the most damaging to this project and the pogrom at Anata-Anatot where state forces personnel who live there participated with immunity was a clear message to the Israeli activists. When the world media is focused on the war mongering of israel directed to Iran, the naZionist settler colonialists efforts directed towards the Palestinian farmers in area C intensify. More suppression efforts are directed to Nabi Saleh and Qaddum who are in the front of the resistance. Other confrontations are a plenty in the South of Hebron Hills where the colonialist settlers are the main attackers and the state forces "only" help them. Lot of house demolitions are a daily phenomena. Bil'in, Ni'ilin, and Ma'asara who started the persistent non armed popular struggle against the separation fence and occupation floated to the margin of both suppression and media reporting. The sporadic vigils within Israel and more so in Tel Aviv seems to be on the margin of attention only. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

[English] read full story / add a comment

There were high hopes at the beginning of the year both about the joint struggle against the occupation, about the social struggle, and about the treatment of guest workers families and the refugees. In all three of them there is a clear setback. Only one village (Qadumm) was added to the persistent weekly demonstrations, and settler colonialists harassments intensify the efforts to transfer villagers fro area C. Most of the activists of last year social struggle were lured to the parliamentary quagmire. Many of the guest worker families with children an lot of refugees were deported. More and more refugees are arrested and taken to the huge concentration camp most of the refugees are supposed to be incarcerated in... In spite of disappointment and the Autumn blues the struggle continue. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

[English] read full story / add a comment

In addition to the regular locations of struggle the anarchists against the wall combine forces with the local popular comities of activists: Beit Ommar, Bil'in, Ma'asara, Nebi Saleh, Ni'ilin, and Qadum, comrades joined additional struggles. Sheikh Jarrah, South of Hebron Hills, and within Israel: Haifa regional court, Saharonim concentration camp, and demos against the war mongering. The uncertainty regarding the exploding of the Tycoons bauble, the economy slump, the war mongering regarding Iran and the scandalous treatment of the refugees dump a bit the energy of the activists. The continuous and escalating of transfer efforts of Palestinians farmers in the main targets of Jordan valley, South of Hebron Hills and the hoses demolitions result in may minutes of felt helplessness. The Israeli state forces have escalated their repression lately. Their main targets are pressure on Palestinian farmers to transfer out of the Jordan valley and the south of Hebron hills, and the joint struggle against settler expansion and Israeli state terror at Beit Ummar, Nabi Saleh, and Qaddum. Throughout recent weeks there have been demonstrations and vigils against the intended bombing attack by Israel on the nuclear facilities of Iran. A few of them in front of the security compound at Kaplan street, others were mainly in front of the not far away apartment tower where the security minister Barak lives. After years of Friday demos in Bil'in and Saturdays and weekly days demos in other locations I took a break and traveled to the St-Imier international anarchist congress celebrating 140 years of struggle. I presented there three venues: one, the film Bil'in Habibti (Bil'in my love of Shai Polak) with discussion of the struggle in Bil'in, One about the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall initiative, and one about the Anarchist psychotherapy I developed (http://ilan.shalif.com/psychology/content1.htm). Nothing can compare to a week with thousands of anarchists of all trends from all over the world - meeting in person comrades I work with for years. Due to the Ramadan day fasting weeks the joint struggle in the various villages was not as usual. As compensation our comrades were involved in the various demos in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. In Jerusalem a pink-black block participated in the gay parade. In Tel Aviv comrades demonstrated on Wednesday the Susia demolition orders at the military radio station. On Saturday comrades participated in the commemoration meeting of the massacre at the gay club three years ago. Not far away, we had the social struggle - Occupy Tel Aviv. In spite of a competition by a reformist split of the movement meeting promoted by media and hired leafleting workers, our march and demo was even better than the three previous Saturday demos of July. Tomorrow, I am on my way to the international anarchist congress in St-Imier Swiss, commemorating the 140 anniversary of the first anarchist congress there. read full story / add a comment

On the background of the Israeli warmongering focused on the Iranian nuclear initiative, Israel intensifies its steps for house demolition and transfer of Palestinians from area C, which is 60% of the occupied West Bank. The Palestinians persist in the Tsumud mode of resistance. Israeli and international activists join whenever they can - mainly in the region of the hills south of Hebron and the Jordan river. Israeli state forces increase their efforts to exclude the internationals but limited by world PR. In spite of the warmongering, the world economic recession, and the hot weather, the social struggle continues in the main cities. The focus of repression of the joint struggle against the occupation and settler colonialist encroaching lands near settlements was a day after day invasion and harassment in the heroic village of Nabi Saleh. Fa caldo. [English] read full story / add a comment

It is hot. Very hot in the middle of the days in the middle of the summer. The Palestinian people of the villages who follow the Muslim religion started this Friday the Ramadan holidays in which eating and drinking is forbidden when the sun is shining. So the joint demonstrations were a bit shorter and smaller, but more lively as it is the season when a lot of international activists have their Summer vacations. We had this week the usual Friday demos in Bil'in, Ma'sara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'lin, Kufr Qaddum, Sheikh Jarrah and Saturday at Beit Ummar. Accompanying the villagers near colonialist settlements in the South Hebron hills... and throughout the week - peaking on late Saturday evening in the Social Struggle. Though the demonstrations in Tel Aviv are only with thousands of participants each but they are much more militant and radical compared to last year. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

The joint struggle of Palestinian activists with Israeli and international activists was never a consensus affair. The more reactionary objected to the influence of secular partners. Extreme "nationalists" oppose the Israeli activists. The Palestinian authority was never too happy with the independent struggle. Some "militants" were against the non-armed mode of the struggle. Narrow-minded people did not have a clue about the joint struggle's contribution to international pressure on Israel to put end to the occupation or at least to lessen the level of repression. The demo against the renewal of discussions of the PA with Israeli rulers brought the PA objections to the open. ---- In Israel, the social struggle collects momentum while the split between the reformists who wish to join the parliament and those who refrain from that quagmire. In the past, Israeli activists detained in joint struggle activities were released after the action ended or on bail late evening/night after interrogation in the police station and banned for two weeks from the specific region. Seldom activists were detained for the night and released at court the next day or banned for up to a month. In very seldom cases activists were detained for two nights, or asked by prosecution for longer time. Last Friday an Israeli comrade was detained at Nebi Saleh. Three days later, on Monday evening at about 6pm, he was released after a Jerusalem District Court judge ruled that there was no evidence to substantiate the soldiers’ allegation of assault. He was however indicted for “reckless behavior” and will face court proceedings for this charge. He also was banned from participation in actions for the following three months. The social struggle within Israel and support for refugees under intense expulsion efforts draw activist from the joint struggle. The internal repression of Palestinians within the west bank by Palestinian Authority personal do not contribute the moral of the people. The sporadic escalation and deescalation of Israeli assaults on the Gaza Ghetto continue, and so are the efforts to transfer Palestinian farmers from the C areas coveted by the colonialist settlers project. Israel started the attack on the Hamas to sabotage the Hamas compromise with the west bank authority, and restore a weakened Hamas independent rule in the Gaza strip. Hamas compromise was a response to Egyptian closer intended to dismantle the Hamas. The failed Israeli attack will force it to contribute its share to significantly open the closer of the border between Israel and the Gaza strip which was till the attack based on the bare minimal on the margin of humanitarian catastrophe. Whatever the details of the new cease fire and arrangements, the failure of Israel vicious assault to stop the Hamas from firing rockets on Israel is a significant "game changer". The failed attack on Gaza and the continuing popular struggle in the west bank are hastening the international pressures to end the occupation of the West bank and the closer of the Gaza strip.

[English]

textPalestine-Israel, The joint struggle in turbulent times* 21:09 Sun 03 Aug by Ilan S. 0 comments

The joint struggles in the locations of regular weekly activities of Bil'in, Ni'lin, Ma'sara, Sheikh Jarrah, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Western Hills of Hebron, in the weekend actions and some in between, have focused on the war on Gaza as the more obvious aspect of the occupation. Today, it seems Israel has failed to establish a weakened but independent power in the Gaza Strip - mainly because the atrocities by Israel have failed to recruit international pressure on Egypt to open the siege of Gaza enough. It seems there will be a revival of the accord between Hamas and the West Bank Palestinian Authority that Israel has invested so much effort into sabotaging. It is not clear yet what the the details will be and how the latest Israeli atrocities will influence pressure from the imperial powers on Israel to end the 1967 occupation. Latest news: Israel has started to retreat its forces from the Gaza Strip with no resolution and with rockets still being fired on Israel. [Italiano]

[English]

textPalestine-Israel - a struggle that never ends between Zionist settler colonialism and the indigenous... 15:25 Sun 20 Jul by Ilan S. 0 comments

The war on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip continues for the 13th day. Demonstrations against Israeli warmongering continue both in Israel and throughout the world. All that Israel wants in this war that it has initiated is to thwart a Palestinian unity government and curb the peace agreements it might speed up. The danger of Hamas' surrender to the Palestinian Authority in the heels of its economic crisis has resulted from the actions of the new Egyptian government, which seriously threatens the project of splitting the Palestinians, something that Israel has invested extraordinary efforts in. Only the total collapse of Hamas rule in Gaza scares Israel more than that. However, due to internal problems among the Israel political elite and public opinion, the government refrained from revealing the true nature of the war, which is to stabilize independent Hamas rule in Gaza and prevent the need for Hamas to surrender to the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank. So, instead the Israeli government has exaggerated the reports about attacks against Hamas and is hiding the real agenda - the obstruction of Palestinian unity. [Italiano]

The US special forces finally sent to Mount Sinjar in Northern Iraq to assess a mission to rescue the threatened Yezidis this morning [Thursday 14 August], reported that most of the displaced population had already been rescued in the previous days. What is not being widely reported is the identity of the Kurdish forces who secured the northern side of the mountain and opened a safe passage for the threatened Yezidi civilians, through the Syrian territory they control to Dohuk in the north of the Kurdish Autonomous region in Iraq.

Embarrassingly for the US, arriving on its white charger to save the day, only to discover they are far too late, the saviours of the Yezidis are the Turkish Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and their Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) allies. The PKK are officially on the US and EU “terrorist” lists and the autonomous Syrian region defended by the YPG is subject to blockade by ISIS to the South and West, Turkey to the North and the corrupt Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) regime in Kurdish Northern Iraq to the East.
