Le 25 novembre a lieu la journée de lutte contre les violences masculines, pour dénoncer les violences quotidiennes exercées par des hommes sur des femmes. Le 20 novembre a lieu la journée du souvenir trans (Transgender Day of Remembrance), pour commémorer les personnes trans assassinées. Si ces deux journées sont souvent présentées de manière complètement disjointes, il nous semble pourtant qu’elles se rejoignent énormément. read full story / add a comment

On 14th October 2017, Rally for Choice will march through the streets of Belfast. - Last year saw us counter protest the Rally for Life in the North of Ireland, for the first time we marched against their lies instead of our usual static demo. Our counter protest was a huge success, despite being organised at short notice and with only a handful of activists. The protest burst across our streets and convened at Buoy Park afterwards for speakers. We outnumbered the Rally for Life 2016 significantly. read full story / add a comment

Saturday the 30th of September 2017 will go down as a high point in the fight for abortion rights in the Republic of Ireland, and that is a struggle that stretches back decades. Years of campaigning and maintaining a focus on the issue, saw a massive crowd of nearly 30,000 people take to the streets for the annual March for Choice as organised by the Abortion Rights Campaign [ARC]. The Melbourne Anarchist Communist Group supports a YES vote in the postal survey on marriage equality now in progress in Australia. We do this, not because we endorse the institution of marriage, but because the survey will have concrete results and we need to choose which results we favour. The postal survey is a flawed process of direct democracy, something far inferior to an authentic plebiscite on a concrete proposal. We didn’t choose this battlefield, but it’s a battle we must win. The Workers Solidarity Movement in Ireland is in full support of the protests in Brussels on the 28th September demanding a guaranteed, free, and accessible access to abortion across Europe. The EU has stood by idly while the bodily autonomy of pregnant people continues to be violated by some member states including Ireland and Malta. It has similarly done nothing while other member states progressively attack reproductive rights based on the political whimsy of the controlling parties of ever-increasing conservative governments. We hope the this mobilisation will demonstrate the united commitment to reproductive freedom for all. We stand with you in spirit as we prepare for our own mobilisation on the 30th of September for the Dublin March for Choice and it appears almost certain a constitutional referendum to remove the ban on abortion next summer. Every year in either Dublin or Belfast the pro and anti choice movements come head to head around the so called ‘Rally for Life’. This year it was Dublin’s unwilling role to play host to the bigot parade. It mattered more years than many as a referendum on the hated 8th Amendment that bans abortion is promised for next year. It could be that the next Dublin bigot parade scheduled for 2019 will come after they have suffered a major defeat. read full story / add a comment

Cuando hablamos del sistema de pensiones en Chile nos imaginamos que debería responder a los principios que hacen funcionar la seguridad social, abarcando con ello la universalidad, la solidaridad, la eficiencia y la integralidad. International Womens Day in Ireland saw thousands take to the streets in a sequence of 'in work time' protests under the heading 'Strike4Repeal'. Abortion is illegal in almost all circumstances and the protests were an attempt by pro-choice activists to forced the government to stop delaying a referendum to repeal the anti-choice 8th Amendment placed in the Irish constitution in 1983. Workers Solidarity Movement members took part in organising the day and in the aftermath produced a number of articles and videos detailing what happened. read full story / add a comment

Al llegar al metro San Ramón y tomar la salida sur se abre el parque La Bandera. Es el mismo lugar que sirvió de escenario para cantar las desdichas de pobladores y pobladoras en dictadura, ante la majestuosa presencia del papa Juan Pablo II en 1987. Hoy flanquea contra el cemento imponente de la autopista Vespucio Sur, una cicatriz que cruza Santiago obstaculizando el tránsito libre de población. La calle Almirante Latorre cruza el parque convirtiéndose en una gran pasarela popular donde desfilan hombres y mujeres cansados tras el término de la jornada laboral. Unas cinco cuadras hacia el sur, en la intersección con la calle Riquelme, comienza la unidad vecinal de blocks rojos, que exhiben sus ampliaciones de cinc para responder a la indiferencia de la política de vivienda del Estado. Frente a ellos, se encuentra el Centro Educacional de San Ramón, lugar donde se reúne la Asamblea de Mujeres de La Bandera para realizar sus talleres. read full story / add a comment

El 8 de marzo es una fecha en disputa. Para algunas es el Día Internacional de la Mujer; otras le llaman el Día Internacional por los Derechos de la Mujer y la Paz Internacional; muchas afirman que es el Día de la Mujer Trabajadora. Hay quienes celebran y hay quienes conmemoran. Para nosotras, el 8 de marzo es el día de las mujeres (transgénero y cisgénero) trabajadoras del campo y la ciudad. Es una fecha que conmemoramos porque nos recuerda que los derechos de las mujeres no son resultado de la “bondad” del opresor, sino de aquellas luchas donde las mujeres se han organizado, han resistido y se han enfrentado al patriarcado, al capitalismo, y a otros sistemas de opresión. read full story / add a comment
