There were high hopes at the beginning of the year both about the joint struggle against the occupation, about the social struggle, and about the treatment of guest workers families and the refugees. In all three of them there is a clear setback. Only one village (Qadumm) was added to the persistent weekly demonstrations, and settler colonialists harassments intensify the efforts to transfer villagers fro area C. Most of the activists of last year social struggle were lured to the parliamentary quagmire. Many of the guest worker families with children an lot of refugees were deported. More and more refugees are arrested and taken to the huge concentration camp most of the refugees are supposed to be incarcerated in... In spite of disappointment and the Autumn blues the struggle continue. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

In addition to the regular locations of struggle the anarchists against the wall combine forces with the local popular comities of activists: Beit Ommar, Bil'in, Ma'asara, Nebi Saleh, Ni'ilin, and Qadum, comrades joined additional struggles. Sheikh Jarrah, South of Hebron Hills, and within Israel: Haifa regional court, Saharonim concentration camp, and demos against the war mongering. The uncertainty regarding the exploding of the Tycoons bauble, the economy slump, the war mongering regarding Iran and the scandalous treatment of the refugees dump a bit the energy of the activists. The continuous and escalating of transfer efforts of Palestinians farmers in the main targets of Jordan valley, South of Hebron Hills and the hoses demolitions result in may minutes of felt helplessness. The Israeli state forces have escalated their repression lately. Their main targets are pressure on Palestinian farmers to transfer out of the Jordan valley and the south of Hebron hills, and the joint struggle against settler expansion and Israeli state terror at Beit Ummar, Nabi Saleh, and Qaddum. Throughout recent weeks there have been demonstrations and vigils against the intended bombing attack by Israel on the nuclear facilities of Iran. A few of them in front of the security compound at Kaplan street, others were mainly in front of the not far away apartment tower where the security minister Barak lives. I presented there three venues: one, the film Bil'in Habibti (Bil'in my love of Shai Polak) with discussion of the struggle in Bil'in, One about the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall initiative, and one about the Anarchist psychotherapy I developed (http://ilan.shalif.com/psychology/content1.htm). Due to the Ramadan day fasting weeks the joint struggle in the various villages was not as usual. As compensation our comrades were involved in the various demos in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. In Jerusalem a pink-black block participated in the gay parade. In Tel Aviv comrades demonstrated on Wednesday the Susia demolition orders at the military radio station. On Saturday comrades participated in the commemoration meeting of the massacre at the gay club three years ago. Not far away, we had the social struggle - Occupy Tel Aviv. In spite of a competition by a reformist split of the movement meeting promoted by media and hired leafleting workers, our march and demo was even better than the three previous Saturday demos of July. Tomorrow, I am on my way to the international anarchist congress in St-Imier Swiss, commemorating the 140 anniversary of the first anarchist congress there. read full story / add a comment

On the background of the Israeli warmongering focused on the Iranian nuclear initiative, Israel intensifies its steps for house demolition and transfer of Palestinians from area C, which is 60% of the occupied West Bank. The Palestinians persist in the Tsumud mode of resistance. Israeli and international activists join whenever they can - mainly in the region of the hills south of Hebron and the Jordan river. Israeli state forces increase their efforts to exclude the internationals but limited by world PR. In spite of the warmongering, the world economic recession, and the hot weather, the social struggle continues in the main cities. The focus of repression of the joint struggle against the occupation and settler colonialist encroaching lands near settlements was a day after day invasion and harassment in the heroic village of Nabi Saleh. It is hot. Very hot in the middle of the days in the middle of the summer. The Palestinian people of the villages who follow the Muslim religion started this Friday the Ramadan holidays in which eating and drinking is forbidden when the sun is shining. So the joint demonstrations were a bit shorter and smaller, but more lively as it is the season when a lot of international activists have their Summer vacations. We had this week the usual Friday demos in Bil'in, Ma'sara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'lin, Kufr Qaddum, Sheikh Jarrah and Saturday at Beit Ummar. Accompanying the villagers near colonialist settlements in the South Hebron hills... and throughout the week - peaking on late Saturday evening in the Social Struggle. Though the demonstrations in Tel Aviv are only with thousands of participants each but they are much more militant and radical compared to last year. [Italiano] read full story / add a comment

The joint struggle of Palestinian activists with Israeli and international activists was never a consensus affair. The more reactionary objected to the influence of secular partners. Extreme "nationalists" oppose the Israeli activists. The Palestinian authority was never too happy with the independent struggle. Some "militants" were against the non-armed mode of the struggle. Narrow-minded people did not have a clue about the joint struggle's contribution to international pressure on Israel to put end to the occupation or at least to lessen the level of repression. The demo against the renewal of discussions of the PA with Israeli rulers brought the PA objections to the open. ---- In Israel, the social struggle collects momentum while the split between the reformists who wish to join the parliament and those who refrain from that quagmire. In the past, Israeli activists detained in joint struggle activities were released after the action ended or on bail late evening/night after interrogation in the police station and banned for two weeks from the specific region. Seldom activists were detained for the night and released at court the next day or banned for up to a month. In very seldom cases activists were detained for two nights, or asked by prosecution for longer time. Last Friday an Israeli comrade was detained at Nebi Saleh. Three days later, on Monday evening at about 6pm, he was released after a Jerusalem District Court judge ruled that there was no evidence to substantiate the soldiers’ allegation of assault. He was however indicted for “reckless behavior” and will face court proceedings for this charge. He also was banned from participation in actions for the following three months. The social struggle within Israel and support for refugees under intense expulsion efforts draw activist from the joint struggle. The internal repression of Palestinians within the west bank by Palestinian Authority personal do not contribute the moral of the people. The sporadic escalation and deescalation of Israeli assaults on the Gaza Ghetto continue, and so are the efforts to transfer Palestinian farmers from the C areas coveted by the colonialist settlers project. The first high pick of the third Intifada is nearly over with significant successes of the hunger strike. As counter measure the Israeli state forces increase the harassments and pressures on inhabitants of area C (69% of occupied west bank) to transfer out to area A of the Palestinian authority. In the on going joint struggles of the AAtW with the popular comities and activists, Nebi Saleh still get the most of the harassments. Public Tev-Dem meeting in Qamishli to discuss attacks by al-Nusra imageThe experiment of West Kurdistan (Syrian Kurdistan) has proved that people can make changes 16:21 Sun 24 Aug by Zaher Baher 0 comments

What you read below is the experience of my visit, for a couple of weeks in May this year, 2014, to North East of Syria or Syrian Kurdistan (West of Kurdistan) with a close friend of mine. Throughout the visit we had the total freedom and opportunity to see and speak to whoever we wanted to. This includes women, men, youth, and the political parties. There are over 20 parties from Kurdish to Christian, of which some are in the Democratic Self Administration (DSA) or Democratic Self Management (DSM) of the region of Al Jazera. Al Jazera is one of three regions, (cantons) of West Kurdistan. We also met the Kurdish and Christian political parties who are not in the DSA or DSM. In addition, we met the top people from the Democratic Self Administration (DSM), members of the different committees, local groups and communes as well as businesspeople, shopkeepers, workers, people in the market and people who were just walking in the street.

textPalestine-Israel, The war assault on Gaza failed to bring the expected results and even back fired* 14:09 Sun 24 Aug by Ilan S. 0 comments

The war Israel started with the Hamas was intended to keep it weaker but independent of the west bank authority. A month and a half and Israel cannot stop the Hamas firing of rockets on Israel. The Hamas raised its demand about the lifting of the siege (closer) and the Israeli prime minister failed go get the support of his coalition for the needed compromise. To diminish the losses and to save face Israel with US backing are passing the decision to the UN security council the Israeli ruling elite evaded successfully so many years. The mounting economic pressures create cracks in the Israeli ruling elite and even the populist coalition party head - the foreign minister, start to promote the end of the 1967 occupation. And the joint popular grass root struggle continue - within Israel at the Arkib Bedouins as focus, Bil'in, Ma'asara, Neby Saleh, Ni'ilin, Qaddum, Sheikh Jarrah, South Hebron Hills. [Italiano]

sorrymigrantx.jpg imageIreland - Migrant X refused an abortion and forced to have a C-section 22:31 Thu 21 Aug by Andrew 0 comments

This is as complete a story about what happened to 'Migrant X' that we are aware of.  Migrant X is a young migrant women who it emerged was refused an abortion by the Irish state despite apparently meeting the grounds of the X-case legislation and instead forced to carry the pregnancy and agree to a C-section.  The pregnanacy itself was the result of rape, Migrant X attempted suicide after being refused the abortion and later went on a hunger and thirst strike.  Once what had happened to her became known there were sizeable pro-choice solidarity demonstrations called across Ireland and at Irish embassies overseas.   We have been given information that the migrant woman at the centre of the current forced pregnancy was 'committed' to a psychiatric hospital following her initial request for termination. It’s already known that the initial request was made when she was 8 weeks pregnant.  It was this crucial period in which she was being held incommunicado which led directly to the Caesarian option being possible to impose as an ‘alternative’ to allowing her to access the abortion she had asked for.

Saturday August 9th, a racist Ferguson police officer profiled and fatally shot a black teenager, Michael Brown, as he walked to his grandmother’s residence with a friend. He was 18 years old. Multiple witnesses told KMOV that Brown was unarmed and had his hands up in the air when he was cut down. “The officer shot again and once my friend felt that shot, he turned around and put his hands in the air,” said witness Dorian Johnson. “He started to get down and the officer still approached with his weapon drawn and fired several more shots.” The family and the community are calling his death an execution.

textPalestine-Israel, Israel attack on Gaza ending with a defeat of its arrogant power show* 19:34 Tue 12 Aug by Ilan S. 0 comments

Israel started the attack on the Hamas to sabotage the Hamas compromise with the west bank authority, and restore a weakened Hamas independent rule in the Gaza strip. Hamas compromise was a response to Egyptian closer intended to dismantle the Hamas. The failed Israeli attack will force it to contribute its share to significantly open the closer of the border between Israel and the Gaza strip which was till the attack based on the bare minimal on the margin of humanitarian catastrophe. Whatever the details of the new cease fire and arrangements, the failure of Israel vicious assault to stop the Hamas from firing rockets on Israel is a significant "game changer". The failed attack on Gaza and the continuing popular struggle in the west bank are hastening the international pressures to end the occupation of the West bank and the closer of the Gaza strip.

textPalestine-Israel, The joint struggle in turbulent times* 21:09 Sun 03 Aug by Ilan S. 0 comments

The joint struggles in the locations of regular weekly activities of Bil'in, Ni'lin, Ma'sara, Sheikh Jarrah, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Western Hills of Hebron, in the weekend actions and some in between, have focused on the war on Gaza as the more obvious aspect of the occupation. Today, it seems Israel has failed to establish a weakened but independent power in the Gaza Strip - mainly because the atrocities by Israel have failed to recruit international pressure on Egypt to open the siege of Gaza enough. It seems there will be a revival of the accord between Hamas and the West Bank Palestinian Authority that Israel has invested so much effort into sabotaging. It is not clear yet what the the details will be and how the latest Israeli atrocities will influence pressure from the imperial powers on Israel to end the 1967 occupation. Latest news: Israel has started to retreat its forces from the Gaza Strip with no resolution and with rockets still being fired on Israel. [Italiano]

The BRICS alliance — a bloc of countries formed by the meetings of their leaders and without any formal documentation — has once again caught the world’s attention for trying a new hand in global power politics. The premise of the relationship between Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa is based on the economy and the potential of sharing a common destination point. Culturally, Brazil is most similar to post-Apartheid South Africa, and proportionally we carry a similar weight to Latin America, as does South Africa to sub-saharan Africa.

The Iraq crisis has been continued for decades while it has been under the power of Saddam Hussein or under the “current democratic Regime” since the invasion of 2003. There were no freedom, no social justice; no equality and also little opportunity for those who were independent from the political parties who were in power. In addition to existing brutality and discrimination against women and the ordinary people a very big gap was created between the rich and poor, making the poor even poorer and the rich richer.
