Un numero crescente di abitanti di Detroit, escusi dalla digitalizzazione, hanno avviato un movimento di base per costruirsi internet da soli. Il Detroit Community Technology Project e' una coalizione di membri della comunità e di diverse realtà no-profit. Hanno iniziato coprendo tre quartieri scarsamente serviti, installando internet ad alta velocità che trasmette connessioni condivise da un'antenna posta in cima all'edificio più alto della strada e dentro le case di persone che se ne erano andate da molto tempo. Ο εργάτης αισθάνεται ότι είναι ο εαυτός του έξω από την εργασία του, και όταν εργάζεται αισθάνεται έξω από τον εαυτό του. Νιώθει άνετα όταν δεν εργάζεται. Κι όταν εργάζεται δεν νιώθει άνετα. Κατά συνέπεια, η εργασία του δεν είναι εθελοντική, αλλά καταναγκαστική. Και η καταναγκαστική εργασία δεν είναι η ικανοποίηση μιας ανάγκης, αλλά μονάχα ένα μέσο για να ικανοποιήσει ανάγκες εκτός της εργασίας. La presente coyuntura electoral ha ofrecido un circo con más ingredientes que en años anteriores, pues no solo el centro de atención ha sido la “legitimidad” de la participación política de la insurgencia mencionada (en su recién fundado partido político), sino que las funciones incluyen también el terror “castrochavista”, que ha venido siendo difundido en los discursos de la derecha criolla con el acólito de los medios de comunicación, argumentando un futuro económico y social “deficiente” a la venezolana. Lo cierto, es que el escenario de crisis no es exclusivo del país vecino pues “Colombia es el segundo país del mundo con más desplazados internos: 6,5 millones”[1], así como “en desigualdad (económica) pasa del puesto 11 a ser el octavo más desigual, entre los 141 países (informe del año 2017)”[2]. Cuestión que no termina allí, ya que si nos detenemos en el sistema de salud, educación o vivienda como tal, no pararíamos de mencionar tristezas y miserias para la gente de a pie, pues es bien sabido que las clases oprimidas somos quienes más llevamos del bulto con este sistema económico-social, sin embargo, no caemos -y esperamos no lo malinterpreten- en la visión del Estado de bienestar para las clases explotadas, o mejor dicho, no estamos pidiendo migajas a las instituciones del Estado ni nada que se parezca, nuestras apreciaciones parten de la crítica a la democracia burguesa y sus contradicciones. read full story / add a comment

International Working Women’s Day is steeped in the radical history of women demanding improvement in our daily lives and in our working conditions. IWWD dates back to 1857 in New York City. Women garment workers went on strike to demand a 10-hour working day, better working conditions and equal rights.  In honour of this strike, another was held  in 1908 by women needle trade workers.  They demanded voting rights and, an end to sweatshops and child labour. Two years later, the socialist, Clara Zetkin, proposed that the 8th of March be commemorated as International Working Women’s Day.  It was first celebrated nationally in the Soviet Union after the https://www.wsm.ie/russian-revolution, a  revolution which  began with a strike  of women textile workers. It’s been around 100 days since the birth of a “new” Zimbabwe: 37 years of authoritarian rule by Robert Mugabe ended when Emmerson Mnangagwa took power through a soft military coup . But what has changed, what we can we expect now? This paper argues that no deep changes are taking place. The slight liberalizing of political life and some promises of economic reform (good and bad) do matter. But the changes in the White House of Zimbabwe centre on removing one vicious state capitalist manager to make way for another, and will not bring liberation for the masses. This replacement does not address the problems Zimbabwe faces: a ruthless ruling class, a predatory state, crisis-ridden capitalism and imperialism. The problem is not individuals: the system is the problem. This paper argues against Mugabe and Mnangagwa, but also against the state as a form of social organization and against the idea that states can be used for liberating the people. All states oppress the working class, peasantry and poor, and the state in Zimbabwe is just an extreme example of how states are based on repression, corruption and promoting the interests of economic and political elites (the ruling class). It rejects the notion that Mugabe was a champion of the poor and landless, and the claim that his ousting was a defeat for progressive forces. But it has no illusions in Mnangagwa. True, real freedom will never come through parliament, or military take- overs, or old men who take turns to spout out neo-liberal or ultra-nationalist rhetoric, while their hands are covered in blood. It can only come from mass action and organising, the transformative engine to build real democratic, stateless socialism based on self-management, freedom political tolerance and common property (anarchism).

Στις 8 Μάρτη του 1857 στη Νέα Υόρκη, οι εργάτριες στον τομέα της υφαντουργίας και του ιματισμού κατέβηκαν σε απεργία για τις απάνθρωπες συνθήκες εργασίας και τους χαμηλούς μισθούς τους. Η αστυνομία επιτέθηκε και διέλυσε βίαια το πλήθος των λευκοντυμένων γυναικών. Δυο χρόνια αργότερα, οι ίδιες εργάτριες που συμμετείχαν στις κινητοποιήσεις, οργάνωσαν το πρώτο εργατικό σωματείο γυναικών και συνέχισαν τον αγώνα για τη χειραφέτηση τους. Το 1908 στους δρόμους της Νέας Υόρκης διαδήλωσαν 15.000 εργάτριες, ζητώντας λιγότερες ώρες εργασίας, καλύτερους μισθούς και δικαίωμα ψήφου. No dia 16 de fevereiro de 2018, o governo ilegítimo capitaneado por Michel Temer, ex-vice presidente de Dilma Rousseff em um mandato e meio, decretou a intervenção federal no estado do Rio de Janeiro. Particularmente, não acredito em total congruência em política, como se a história pregressa e as condições estruturais pré-definissem todos os possíveis movimentos de atores individuais, agentes coletivos, instituições formais e redes mais ou menos formais de tomada de decisão e influência. Estamos presenciando a inauguração de mais um capítulo do governo de “choque” aplicado ao estado do Rio de Janeiro. Um capítulo que é a plena continuação da nefasta política de segurança pública implementada no estado, alinhada ao avanço do golpe contra os trabalhadores, que destituiu anteriormente um governo que não servia mais aos plenos interesses da classe dominante nessa nova fase do sistema capitalista.

No carnaval desse ano e seguindo a tradição de resistência da cultura afro-brasileira, a Paraíso do Tuiti lavou a alma de todos os/as trabalhadores/as brasileiros, mostrando que a reforma da previdência e trabalhista são ataques contra seus direitos sociais e escancarou o passado escravocrata da elite brasileira. Agora, essa mesma elite, faz um novo acordo e aprova um plano de intervenção federal na segurança pública do Rio de Janeiro, que agora vai ficar sob controle do general do exército Walter Braga Neto.
