brazil/guyana/suriname/fguiana / anarchist movement / press release Monday June 04, 2012 14:51 by Federação Anarquista Gaúcha   image 1 image
In the days of June, in Rio de Janeiro, organised anarchism in Brazil will experience its greatest contemporary historical event. The Anarchist Congress, that will bring together groups from about 10 states across the country in debates, agreements and resolutions to act with common principles and tactics on the Brazilian reality, has a very special significance. Our conviction, in a more than 10 year process, says that militant anarchism holds indispensable contributions to the struggles for anti-capitalist social change. The meeting of militant forces that embody the same concept of work in co-ordination is a fundamental step in the journey of building political organisation that doesn’t just start now.

brazil/guyana/suriname/fguiana / anarchist movement / policy statement Sunday June 03, 2012 20:52 by Federação Anarquista do Rio de Janeiro   image 1 image
Anarchism is a political ideology of social transformation, which is expressed through an anti-authoritarian mode of reflection, interpretation and intervention on reality. It constitutes a revolutionary theory that struggles against all forms of exploitation and oppression. It has its historical origins in the working class struggles over almost two centuries. Committed to these principles, which are a continuation of the organisationalist current of anarchism, the Federação Anarquista do Rio de Janeiro (FARJ) proposes to work – now and without intermediations – in order to interfere in the different realities that make up the universe of social movements. To achieve its intended goals – to move immediately towards a world where all are free and equal – the FARJ will respect the firm ethical precepts that sustain it, promoting the development of a political culture that is based on respect for the plurality of perspectives and affinity of objectives. read full story / add a comment

brazil/guyana/suriname/fguiana / anarchist movement / policy statement Sunday June 03, 2012 20:25 by Coordenação Anarquista Brasileira   image 1 image
The Coordenação Anarquista Brasileira (CAB) is an organisational area founded in 2012 that gathers together on a nationwide level anarchist organisations and groups that work on the basis of the principles and strategy of especifista anarchism. The CAB has come about as the result of a ten-year organising process which started in 2002 with the founding of the Fórum do Anarquismo Organizado (FAO). Over the decade, it make progress both in political and ideological terms and in relation to the workers in the popular movements. The foundation of the CAB marks the passage from a forum to a nationwide co-ordination, and brings greater organisational agreement and establishing the basis for an advance towards a Brazilian anarchist organisation.
