In October 2010 two girls were raped. One of them was killed along with her two little brothers, allegedly by a Colombian soldier in the countryside of a town called Tame, Northeastern Colombia. A prosecutor of the Attorney General's office charged Second Lieutenant Raul Muñoz Linares with the rape and murders.

The judicial process against Muñoz was delayed yet again one more week as Muñoz's new lawyer asked for more time to prepare his clients defense. read full story / add a comment

From the first day, the Other Campaign has demonstrated that it is more, much more, than the EZLN. Indigenous, most especially indigenous, and, along with them, those who accompany their sorrows and rebellions: non-governmental organizations, groups, collectives, families, individuals who work in the defense of human rights, gender struggle, economic projects, education, culture, defense of the environment, alternative communication, analysis and theoretical debate. Mostly women, mostly young people. There they are, there they always were, even before 1994. Proposals are also beginning to emerge: the general strike over payments to the Federal Commission of Electricity until fair rates are agreed according to the criteria that the rich pay more and the poor pay less or they don’t pay. The generalized campesino rejection of Procede. The national blockade against the official policy of destroying the environment. read full story / add a comment

The Frente (FZLN) has, since its inception, been made up of a very large number of persons doing an astonishing variety of excellent work. It was established at the behest of the EZLN, and now the EZLN is asking for it to be "returned" to them. The FZLN will now "belong" to the EZLN, as it were, theirs to use as they see fit, as their own "civil, peaceful organization." As they stated in this letter, they are planning to be quite "strict" in seeing that their "zapatista principles" are carried out. read full story / add a comment
