As far as I can tell, Ukrainian anarchists have in fact followed Malatesta’s approach. Virtually the whole country has risen up to oppose the invasion. There is voluntary organizing throughout the nation, both military and providing social services, despite chaos and destruction. Ukrainian anarchists have not made fools of themselves by opposing the resistance of the people. Instead they have merged with the broader movement of Ukrainians. Some have provided non-military services through mutual aid groups, such as food distribution. Others have formed a military unit composed of anarchists and anti-fascists. Although they have a good deal of autonomy, they coordinate with the Territorial Defense Forces. read full story / add a comment

Some anarchists and libertarian Marxists oppose the concepts of national self-determination and national liberation. They argue that these slogans deny class struggle, endorse nationalism, is contrary to anarchist principles, and lead to Leninism. I respond to these arguments, saying that anarchists should be in solidarity with the people of oppressed nations without endorsing their nationalist leaders. read full story / add a comment

In recent days we have seen an escalation in tension betwen the two Koreas which is being presented by Western countries as an intolerable aggression on the part of the dictatorial, bellicose northern State against their democratic, peaceful neighbours. We think it might be interesting to present to our readers a text from our regular contributor Wayne Price, as a way to better understand the current situation and the reasons behind today's divided Korea.
At this stage we would support a mediated solution which sees the Korean people themselves, on both sides of the border, as main players, with no external interference or decisions made behind their backs. Such a solution would be the only way to open the door to a united, socialist, democratic and free Korea and guarantee, in this way, a sustainable peace with social justice. En estos últimos días estamos asistiendo a una escalada de la tensión bélica entre las dos Coreas, que se está presentando por los Estados occidentales como una intolerable agresión del Estado dictatorial y belicista del norte contra sus vecinos democráticos y pacíficos del sur. Hemos considerado interesante presentar a nuestros lectores un artículo de nuestro colaborador Wayne Price para comprender mejor las raíces de la actual situación y los motivos que estuvieron detrás de la actual división de Corea.
Este será el primero de una serie de artículos que, con motivo del 60 aniversario de la Guerra de Corea, publicaremos sobre el movimiento anarquista coreano y la Guerra, los cuales esperamos sean esclarecedores para entender ese momento histórico crucial y las múltiples consecuencias que tuvo. De igual manera, esperamos que el entregar ciertos datos de ese contexto histórico sirva para entender la compleja realidad actual coreana, más allá de maniqueísmos y distorsiones mediáticas.

De uitbreiding van de aanval van de VS op Afghanistan en Pakistan is niet te wijten aan de persoonlijke kwaliteiten van Obama, maar aan het sociale system dat hij dient: de nationale staat en de kapitalistische economie. The expansion of the US attack on Afghanistan and Pakistan is not due to the personal qualities of Obama but to the social system he serves: the national state and the capitalist economy. The nature of the situation guarantees that the system will act irrationally. Anarchists should participate in building a broad movement against the war, while raising our political program.
