Mutual Aid is an important and relevant anarchist concept. It shows how aspects of a better world already exist everywhere, including in Southern Africa, and how we can achieve this world, building on and extending existing cultural practices. First published in issue number 10 of Zabalaza: A Journal of Southern African Revolutionary Anarchism, April 2009. read full story / add a comment

Once Africa’s most educated population Zimbabwe has seen school attendance drop to 20% of those of school-going age while thousands
have died from a resurgence of the archaic, curable disease of cholera. Opposition activists are abducted by state agents while SADC sits by complicit in the collapse and death. The people of Zimbabwe are crying out for a new constitution, freedom of expression and for their social, economic and human rights. Zimbabwe is in real need of regional solidarity at a time when a shaky unity government is ill-equipped and lacking will to address these issues. Magamba, the Cultural Activist Network, in partnership with the Zimbabwe Solidarity Forum and LNM Entertainment will hold a festival to build people-to-people solidarity in the region and to maintain a spotlight on the Zimbabwean crisis. MAKE SOME NOISE aims to make Jozi move to regional rhythms of change! read full story / add a comment

We are super excited to be working with wonderful people from other parts of the world in this great project. Ecos de Libertad is an on-line radio project linking our dreams, actions and needs to yours, to communicate beyond distance (and time) and support our radical work.
We hope in the future you too can contribute to the content of the shows by listening, calling in, and telling us what is going on in your community, events, struggles, celebrations, calls for solidarity, etc. Claro, our show is multilingual whenever possible =)
We are working on podcasting and/or setting a permanent file elsewhere for wider access.
Tune in!

A-paulling officers, a-paulling stations and people casting their hopes? Could it be a mock election was being held? This was the dis-order of the day at the MAKE SOME NOISE Festival as it kicked off in Zimbabwe at the Mannenberg Club on November 29th 2008. Organised by Magamba, LNM and the Zimbabwe Solidarity Forum (ZSF), the naughty, subversive event featured leading protest and spoken word artists- Comrade Fatso & Chabvondoka, Outspoken & The Essence, Josh Meck, Cynic, Zaza as well as the blazing new duo, Upmost & Stan. read full story / add a comment
