The contradictory meanings of "communism:" both as a society of freedom and as one of totalitarianism. What Bakuknin, Kropotkin, and Marx had meant by communism and how this term was changed by the Leninists.
On December 1, by mutual consent of all its members and following consultations with the WSM (Ireland), OCL (Chile) and FdCA (Italy), the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Federation was replaced by a new, unitary organisation, the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Front. The new ZACF retains all the assets of the former federation. On December 2, the members of the new ZACF held talks with our Swazi comrades with a view to establishing a new unitary organisation in Swaziland. The new Front's constitution follows.
The following articles argue for a class-struggle perspective, with two basic points: that all oppressions, class and non-class, should be fought against and that working class struggles are, in certain ways, central to an overall perspective. This is due to an analysis of class and non-class oppressions and the ways they interrelate, which produces a strategic and moral orientation.
In late May, the Workers' Solidarity Movement in Ireland had the chance to interview Edith Soboul, of the Federal Secretariat of Altrernative Libertaire, our sister organisation in France.
The interview deals with the recent presidential election of former leader of the UMP right wing party, Nicolas Sarkozy, the shift to the right in Europe and its impact on workers' and immigrants' rights, the tasks of the libertarians in France and AL proposals for the moment.
Pacifists believe that a better world can be won without any use of popular violence. While nonviolent methods can be useful, they do not always work. Some conflicts have to be fought through. Revolutions may have to include violence.
We anarchists want a world without war or any sort of violence. But to get it, there will have to be a social revolution to completely change society, overturning the ruling class and its state. We will try to keep revolutionary violence to a minimum, but the vicious, brutal, nature of the capitalist class will require at least the threat of mass violence.
