In the verdict released today (Sept 4, 2007) in the petition of Ahmed Abdullah Yasin on behalf of the Bil'in village council against the separation barrier (HCJ 8414/05), by Chief Justice Dorit Beinish and her colleagues, Justice Ayala Procaccia and Justice Eliezer Rivlin, the High Court ruled against the current route of the barrier and ordered the State to prepare a proposal for an alternative route within a reasonable time, which will leave the agricultural lands of Bil'in on the "Palestinian" side of the barrier. This will mean approximately 250 acres of land being returned to the villagers of Bil'in.

The celebrations started with a party held during the late morning for international and local media. Activists from the village and the region involved with the struggle in Bil'in then continued the celebrations on the streets and in the village's municipality building. In the afternoon, the main contingent of Anarchists Against the Wall arrived from the nearby cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and the celebrations gained momentum.

The mounting legal cost of the joint Palestinian-Israeli struggle against the occupation is forcing us to send this urgent appeal for funds. We are asking for your support to continue the work of the Israeli group Anarchists Against the Wall (AATW). For the past four years, the group has supported the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation and specifically against Israel's segregation wall. Week after week, AATW joins the Palestinian popular resistance against the wall, in diverse areas of the West Bank, including the villages of Bil'in west of Ramallah, al-Ma'asara, and Ertas, south of Bethlehem, and Beit Ummar, north of Hebron.

The following is an interview held with Sami Hermez on the 6th of June on the current crisis in Lebanon, that started on the 20th of May with the fighting between Fath al-Islam and the Lebanese Army. This has meant a major crisis for the Palestinian refugees, thousands of them being further displaced, many of them killed and wounded.

Sami is a Lebanese anthropologist who has been active in providing support and relief to Palestinian and Lebanese refugees. As well, he writes frequently to Electronic Lebanon taking a brave political stance in defense of Palestinians and against the US project for the region.

The second week of June will mark forty years since the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza in the 1967 Six Day war. This is now the longest enduring military occupation in the world. We can use this symbolic moment to hit out at those who benefit and profit from the pain and despair in Palestine, and to send the Israeli and G8 governments a message they cannot ignore.

This is a call-out for international direct actions against the occupation on June 6-12. We call in particular for actions against corporations profiting directly from the occupation that publicly shame them and/or cause them economic damage.
