The struggle of the Bedouins within Israel against the mass transfer since the 1948 war expand to the whole of Israel and even to the areas conquered in the 1967. In addition to the regular locations of joint struggle in the 1967 areas: Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Ma'asarah, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Sheikh Jarah, and South of Hebron hills the Bedouins struggle drew more and more activists of the anarchists against the wall. The Arakib village struggle expand immensely with the Praver plan as the focus. Preparations for the August one actions are in vigor. The frantic efforts of the Israeli authorities to advance the transfer of Palestinians both within the 1948 borders and the 1967 ones is interwoven withe realization that the tide is changing. The rhetorics of the rightists and their harsh activities seems to be a kind of religious ritual intending to counter the contradicting reality. The joint struggle continue both with farmers of the south of the west bank to resist the settler colonialists harassments and the popular comities contesting the separation fence and occupation. Bedouins in Israel south, farmers in the west bank, Bil'in, Nabi Saleh, Ni'ilin, Qaddum, Sheikh Jarah. Another activist with the anarchists against the wall had a metal bullet coated with rubber extracted from her foot after shot from illegally short range while video documenting. The social struggle within Israel continued in a decrease intensity. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

Though many comrades have lost their enthusiasm along the years and some dropped out entirely or emigrated, the struggle continues - both in the struggle for social justice and the joint struggle against the occupation and the transfer pressures within Israel. The mounting world pressure, energized by the local struggles, seems to be increasing qualitatively as are the fear of them by the Israeli elite. The most interesting news in this weekend's articles and editorial of the daily newspaper Haaretz: "...Contrary to Bennett's statements, sources in Jerusalem say the threat of European boycotts on Israel is real". Excerpt: "... a large number of those investment committees [of the banking system] considered recommending to the banks to prohibit loans or aid of any kind to Israeli companies that operate in the West Bank − manufacturing there, selling their products, building homes and so forth − and also to Israeli banks that grant mortgages to home builders or buyers across the Green Line. While the popular non-armed struggle of the Palestinians of the occupied West Bank is provoked again and again in the C areas, the PSCC are still sporadic. The persistent joint struggles are still restricted to Bil'in, Ma'sara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'lin, Qaddum, and Sheikh Jarrah, but from time to time the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall activists are invited to old locations of joint struggles and to new ones. The state repression is inconsistent, with often unpredicted relative passivity of state forces interwoven with harsh eruptions. Meanwhile in Israel the social struggle is starting to collect momentum with hotter discussions about the international pressure on one side and the one-state solution/danger on the other. The roots of the joint action that the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall are involved in is in the same process that started in the first post-Marxist anti-neoliberalist globalization uprising in Chiapas 01-01-94. The Peoples' Global Action and the confrontations with the WTO and later also with the G8 originated in the 1997 Second pro-Zapatist Encounter in Spain (a workshop I participated in). In the European Peoples' Global Action 2002 at Leiden we had a workshop on the struggle in Palestine (with a significant Israeli presence) which raised the idea of a joint camp (materialized in the Mas'ha camp in 2003) which initiated the joint struggle against the separation fence and the Anarchists Against the Wall part of it. We do not know for sure which confrontational struggle contributes to any other struggle, and to the world struggle, but we are all connected, inspiring and inspired by each other. ... read full story / add a comment

In spite of increasing worldwide political and economic (B.D.S) pressure, the Israeli State is increasing its efforts to transfer Palestinians - both within the 1948 borders and the 1967 ones. The efforts to transfer Palestinians from area C of the West Bank is being done with the help of the colonialist settler terror and to the State's efforts, though Israeli activists join the Palestinians to resist or even sabotage. The Israeli media are reporting again and again on the third Intifada that is gradually intensifying, and on the warning by generals that the present refusal of the State to yield is dangerous. The social ferment and buds of struggle are not ceding to the drums of war. In the popular weekend struggles in Bil'in, Ni'lin, Nabi Saleh, and Qaddum, the State forces' repression is not consistent. Sometimes the repression is milder and sometimes it is harsher but we still cannot decipher the pattern. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

Certainly the owners of the bus companies who, besides offering a lousy public transport service, are totally exempt from taxes (PIS/PASEP and COFINS) thanks to the federal government. In other words, the bus companies receive privileges from the government and can increase fares in order to make more profit... If we want peace, we must follow the example of the workers and worker-soldiers who ended WWI. We must build a working class movement which spans across frontiers and cuts the ground out from under the capitalist governments that have no solution for international problems but war. We must make a workers' revolution and overthrow capitalism. And only then will we be able to build a world of liberty, equality and solidarity – a world at peace.

textPalestine-Israel, New people join, some veterans left, pressures intensify... but the joint struggle... 17:13 Sat 02 Apr by Ilan S. 0 comments

Last Friday (1.4) lot of anarchist flags again in Bil'in challenging the new efforts to put end to the Friday demos in the village. The long range tear gas cannisters prevent any interaction with the Israeli soldiers and stoped the demonstrators from exiting the village - like in the demonstrations in Bil'in eleven years ago before the intense efforts to put end to the demonstrations was replace with the contention of them; and like in the other locations - Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, and Qaddum where the efforts to put end to the demonstrations intensify. (So are with out the success the intense efforts to strangle the south of Hebron hills activities with other means.) People with keen ears can already hear the beginning of the countdown towards the end of the imperial settler colonial project in the East of the Mediterranean sea. May be the acceleration of the process is the result of the accumulation of the fiascos of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Libya...

textPalestine-Israel, The joint struggle continue in spite of the huge changes in the region* 03:28 Thu 17 Mar by Ilan S. 1 comments

On the twelfth year of joined struggle in Bil'in it lost its glamour. Many of the activists lost the excitement of the direct action confrontation which is not a new thing any more. The expansion of the joint struggle to other locations and the expanding of the non armed struggle in the west bank contributed to it too. Many of the activists just "moved on" to a less intensive ways of life. But, some old time activists can not "let go". The other day, I searched the http://archive.org/web/ for the old site of: "This appeal, the first to call on-line for a boycott against Israel, was posted in April of 2001".(http://matzpun.com)... and read again our 35 original signatories of this pre-BDS. The majority are still in the struggle. Looking back on my 65 years of struggle I regard ainfos.ca, this petition, the joint struggle in Bil'in and my stories from the year 2100 - 50 years after the revolution* as the most significant ones.

Dear Comrades,

The next issue of our monthly anarchist newspaper Meydan is going to be prepared by Anarchist Women only, as for all March issues. In this issue, we are going to focus on the systematic violence against women, on this violence becoming a state policy and we are going to talk about being a woman in war conditions that we are currently in.

The massacres in the North of Kurdistan has been steadily increasing especially since August, and these war conditions bring about many cases in which the women are used as tool for the war. As seen in many wars throughout history, women are forced to migrate from the lands that are looted by war in our geography. Women are faced with rapes, tortures, they are massacred and their slayed bodies exposed on the streets, "completely naked".

textPalestine-Israel, The eleven years joint struggle in Bil'in as a seed for the third youth intifada.* 16:36 Sun 21 Feb by Ilan S. 1 comments

At the beginning, the joint struggle in Bil'in of the Israeli Anarchists Against The Wall with the local activists differed only with a consisted Fridays direct actions against the construction of the separation fence. The Israeli state response was a prolonged effort to block the participation of the Israeli activists that failed due to geographic conditions, persistence of the Israeli activists, and our ingenuity. One of the restricting factors on the suppression efforts of the state forces was wide spread sympathy for these demos in the Israeli media, and public. In a desperate efforts the army sent covert agents to initiate stone throwing from the demo on the state force. After a long while they succeeded. Youngsters of the village got into the stone throwing habit. For years it was all over the media and contributed to the stone throwing culture of the Palestinian youth. This was a significant contributor factor to the already 4 months old "Children Intifada".

The labour movement in Melbourne, though far declined from its former strength, has neither totally given up the ghost nor been allowed quarter by its enemies. Unions campaign for health and safety, against insecure work and against the use of temporary work visas to undermine labour standards. The campaigns, though, are undermined by the conservatism and timidity of the union officials, their support for the Labor Party and their nationalist focus on “Aussie jobs”, which interferes with building the necessary solidarity between local workers and super-exploited migrant workers. Meanwhile, the capitalists are proceeding with legislation to destroy the construction workers' union (CFMEU) and bring the entire union movement under close State supervision.

textRemembering the 1916 rebellion in Ireland together Apr 20 by Andrew 3 comments

Almost a century ago, an armed insurrection took place in Ireland to end British rule and to establish an independent Irish Republic. The 1916 Rising was soon accompanied by major popular revolts against World War One across Europe and later emulated by anti-colonial movements across the Global South. When it comes to remembering the 1916 Rising, why do conservative politicians and historians want to convince us that it would have been better for us if Pearse and Connolly had stayed at home? Why did the state parade lots of military equipment and personnel down O’Connell Street to mark the centenary? Why did so many people turn out to watch it? This panel attempts to think through the meaning of 1916 for us today, and the politics at stake in how these events are remembered, forgotten, and mis-remembered.
