Picket lines have returned to Insomnia Cookies, less than two weeks after the company settled with four workers who struck in August of 2013. On Friday March 14, two dozen union members and supporters rallied in front of the Boston location of Insomnia Cookies, demanding the reinstatement with back pay of union organizer and bicycle delivery “driver,” Tasia Edmonds. On March 9 the company suspended Edmonds without pay for a month, alleging insubordination, while the union maintains she was disciplined for her union-building efforts. ... read full story / add a comment

The emergence of the B.D.S. finds its expressions in both the Israeli media, the ruling elite, and the medium level of the capitalists. The harassment of the Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, and Qaddum is not applied to Bil'in which is in the focus of international attention. It seems the state forces got specific orders to be much more "lenient" even with the stones throwing Shabab. Lot of the Israeli activists lost their persistence as the development on the ground is not expanding and the advance of the B.D.S. is too abstract for them. For many Israeli and the Palestinian activists the big picture is not clear enough and they do not feel that we are winning. They do not really feel the satisfaction from the fact that our joint struggle is the important leaning point the lever of the B.D.S. need for its success. Palestine-Israel The imminent crash of belligerent Zionism push the elite to desperate acceleration*
mashriq / arabia / iraq / community struggles / news report Tuesday March 04, 2014 - 02:11 par Ilan S.
The acceleration of the B.D.S. and international pressure to yield a bit cause near panic in the more ideological Zionist elite. Their response is the acceleration of suppression of the Palestinians and efforts to transfer them from key areas that the die hards dream of holding for ever. The Israeli state force back the irregular settlers and initiate lot of action itself. The harassment of the Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, and Qaddum who are not in the focus of international media is more vicious than ever. Bil'in, that earned international fame and attention of media, got partial immunity. The chanting of the demonstrators expressed the real opinion on the two states pseudo solution: "free free Palestine from the river to the sea". The "no state redNblack flags" which the anarchist-communist Ahdut members hold high in Bil'in demos are accepted without any reservation. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

The Israeli media is nearly obsessed with the escalation of the B.D.S. as if they know things they do not disclose. Both supporters and rejectors of the end of the occupation start to regard it as immanent and not in the far future. A section of the Israeli capitalist elite which is suffering from the boycott and fear its escalation start to organize to accelerate the end of occupation. 100 of them traveled for the Davos conference and official organization was established. On the ground, it seems that the efforts of the Israeli state forces escalate their repression of on going struggles and make more efforts to transfer villagers from strategic locations. The Ukraine is in the throes of a popular uprising, against its regime, which is becoming ever more repressive. Much of the mainstream media presents the image of a confrontation taking place between the two statist political factions in Ukraine: The governing coalition, led by President Yanukovich, which has recently backed away from a trade agreement with the EU, and is developing a close subservient relationship with Russia; and the smaller nationalist opposition, headed by the parties called the Blow, Homeland and Freedom, opposing this development and seeking to attach Ukraine more strongly to the EU. ---- This image is far from representing reality. The struggle at Ein Hiljeh continued till Thursday night. Israeli state forces harassed the activists throughout the week but due to the mounting world pressure refrained from arresting activists even during the eviction, only detaining a few of them for a short time. Instead, they did beat and injure dozens of them. The mounting effects of the B.D.S. have started to panic the Israeli elite and a significant part of it is starting to pressurise the government into yielding to the imperial demands. The Israeli media contemplates it daily. The ongoing grassroots struggle continues, though is not invigorated again yet. The struggle against the crawling transfer - mainly in the Jordan valley, the south of Hebron hills and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem - continues. The anarchist communist organization Ahdut is increasing its involvement in the joint struggle against the occupation with the Bil'in grassroots popular activists. At the beginning, the joint struggle was focused on specific routes of the separation fence. There were some achievements and many villages dropped from the regular struggle. The hope for a wide spread popular struggle was not fulfilled, but additional struggles were initiated and the struggles networked with sporadic joint actions. Lately the network of joint popular struggles started regular actions - the Ein Hijleh is the second one. The continued struggle draw the international attention and give essential base to the B.D.S. The persistent struggle saw seeds in the subterranean ferment that may sprout without a warning in the appropriate conditions. The persistence and the approaching avalanche of the B.D.S. energize the more far sighted activists. Chilean Port workers in 14 northern and southern ports have been on strike, at various times, since late December 2013. The strike wave began in the northern Port of Angamos to continue the ongoing fight to win a paid half hour lunch break for port workers, for the integration of temporary workers into the union, and for reforms to the dictatorship-era labor law. The strike then hit other ports, with additional union members striking in support of the original demands and against the police brutality used against the Port of Angamos strikers. Responding to that accusation, Melissa Sepúlveda, President of the University of Chile Student Federation (FECh), and herself an anarchist and militant of the Frente de Estudiantes Libertarios and La Alzada, Acción Feminista Libertaria has issued the following statement. The mass murder of infants and women by the Greek state outside the island Farmakonisi is not an individual incident and absolutely not a tragedy, since ignorance is required for a tragedy to happen. It is one more result of the conscious murderous policy of Greece concerning the borders. Favored and motivated by the European Union policy of “Fortress Europe”, Dublin II Treaty, the formation of FRONTEX, Greece has installed a murderous mechanism in land and sea, whose stated target is in the best case the torture and in the worst the death of immigrants travelling towards Europe. ... read full story / add a comment

The clash that has lately been going on in Ramalla between the Palestinian Authority police and strikers' demonstration of employees of the United Nations agency stresses it again: the activists of the Anarchists Against the Wall initiative and many of the internationals and even many Palestinians are joining the struggle against the occupation and the settler project period. The expectations from a Palestinian state are low and marginal, and very few have any illusions about the expected freedom in the "free Palestine" they chant. The intensifying international pressure on Israel brings hesitant hopes about the nearing changes in the region. And the joint struggle continues in Bil'in, Ni'lin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Ma'sara, Sheikh Jarrah, and the South Hebron Hills, with hesitant contemplations of joining from other villages. No one could predict that the joint camp in Masha 12 years ago of Israeli and Palestinian activists will ignite a wide movement of a joint non armed struggle which the Israeli occupying system will fail to extinguish. The thousands of activities and the tens of thousands of participates were not expected. Many small victories and the international B.D.S. warm the hearts of the not too many who persist in the joint struggle in spite of the mourning of those killed, empathy with the injured and solidarity with those arrested. The strong bond of partnership between the Palestinian activists and the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall initiative was surprising. Disappointing but not surprising is the way the people of the Israeli anarchist scene refrained from adopting the initiative as the main recruiting mission. Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Ma'asara, Nebi Saleh, and Qaddum are still holding high the banner. [Italiano]

It is hard for many activists when the real meaning of the struggle are not concrete achievable gains, but a global worldwide struggle. This week, the concrete and the global merged when the struggle against the destruction of Susiya village recruited international support and forced Israel to delay or even cancel the demolition of the village. Pressure from the imperial powers on Israel was joined by European warning about approaching sanctions against the Israeli banking system for its involvement in the settlers' projects in the occupied West Bank. It seems the erosion of Israeli immunity from paying for its war crimes is collecting momentum. The Israeli media is full of news about B.D.S. - the joint struggle in which thousands of international activists participate, contributing a lot. The heroic Bil'in, Ni'lin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Ma'sara, and Sheikh Jarrah keep the weekly flame from extinguishing. [Italiano]

Vulture capitalist games lose 460 jobs at Clerys store in Dublin 17:51 Tue 07 Jul 0 comments
Friday June 12ths shock closure of the iconic Clery’s department store in Dublin shows how the law is set up to favour capital and screw workers. Workers are being told there may be no additional redundancy or owed holiday payments as the company is in debt. But this is only the case because right before the closure the largest asset, the building itself, was separated off from the accumulated debts. This was almost certainly legal under our system but of such obvious dubious morality that the workers could expect massive popular support if they occupied the building on a permanent ongoing basis.more >>
Asylum seeker, homeless - We Rebel! We support decent housing for all! Sep 02 0 comments
Last week, three children under the age of six slept rough in Dublin city centre while their parents stayed awake to watch over them. As of August 2015, this family is but one of 620 families in Ireland, including more than 1,300 children, who are homeless. The root of the current crisis of housing is the current crisis of capitalism.
Will the United Front (UF) address the crises we are currently facing in South Africa? I am concerned about how the UF works and who leads it. In my own view we don’t need a leader, we need to all have equal voice. How can we build the UF as a basis for a stateless, socialist, South Africa?
Over the Last 12 months, particularly since Christmas the housing and homeless problem has deepened significantly. From last summer the amounts of families’ registering as homeless went from 264 to now, which are 531. The number of families that are registered as being in need of emergency accommodation is 792 adults with 1,112 dependent children. These statics were issued by the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive. This is a 100% rise within 12 months, but yet the state has not come out and said there is a crisis in housing.
Working Class Struggle, Blazing a Path to Freedom Aug 26 0 comments
NOTE: Heritage Day is a post-apartheid South African national holiday; unlike most, it has no clear link to major struggles in the past, although there are efforts to position it as a more “political” day. The talk below was given by Lucien van der Walt at an event organised by Sakhaluntu Cultural Group in Grahamstown, for black youth. Thank you all for coming. Thank you, chair, for the invitation. Thank you, organisers, for the event today. Today looks like a great day, a great day to look forward. But before we look forward, we must look back as well. Unless you know where you come from, you will never know where you can go.
For how long can South African elites keep misleading the people? Aug 26 0 comments
Those in power don’t want to confront the status quo of hatred against immigrants, or South Africa’s imperialist role in the region. They have a narrow set of interests: getting votes, accumulating wealth and power. However, the recent wave of attacks on immigrants and the ruptures of relations with other African countries – especially where South African corporations are operating – have touched the most delicate nerves of the established political powers, who have vowed to advance corporate interests in making profits.

As much as this pains those who have participated in the anarchist communist experience between 2011 and 2014 in the Canadian prairies, today, Prairie Struggle announces its official secession and subsequent disbandment. To this day, Prairie Struggle was the only specific platformist organization in the Canadians prairies. Though some may recall the existence of an anarchist communist group in Regina affiliated to the ACF (Anarchist Communist Federation of North America) in the 80s, organized anarchism in the prairies has had many difficulties, some of which the Prairie Struggle Project has failed to overcome. Despite its downfall, Prairie Struggle, for one last time, offers a look into the organization, its failures and its small victories.
