Due to the Ramadan day fasting weeks the joint struggle in the various villages was not as usual. As compensation our comrades were involved in the various demos in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. In Jerusalem a pink-black block participated in the gay parade. In Tel Aviv comrades demonstrated on Wednesday the Susia demolition orders at the military radio station. On Saturday comrades participated in the commemoration meeting of the massacre at the gay club three years ago. Not far away, we had the social struggle - Occupy Tel Aviv. In spite of a competition by a reformist split of the movement meeting promoted by media and hired leafleting workers, our march and demo was even better than the three previous Saturday demos of July. Tomorrow, I am on my way to the international anarchist congress in St-Imier Swiss, commemorating the 140 anniversary of the first anarchist congress there. ... read full story / add a comment

On the background of the Israeli warmongering focused on the Iranian nuclear initiative, Israel intensifies its steps for house demolition and transfer of Palestinians from area C, which is 60% of the occupied West Bank. The Palestinians persist in the Tsumud mode of resistance. Israeli and international activists join whenever they can - mainly in the region of the hills south of Hebron and the Jordan river. Israeli state forces increase their efforts to exclude the internationals but limited by world PR. In spite of the warmongering, the world economic recession, and the hot weather, the social struggle continues in the main cities. The focus of repression of the joint struggle against the occupation and settler colonialist encroaching lands near settlements was a day after day invasion and harassment in the heroic village of Nabi Saleh. It is hot. Very hot in the middle of the days in the middle of the summer. The Palestinian people of the villages who follow the Muslim religion started this Friday the Ramadan holidays in which eating and drinking is forbidden when the sun is shining. So the joint demonstrations were a bit shorter and smaller, but more lively as it is the season when a lot of international activists have their Summer vacations. We had this week the usual Friday demos in Bil'in, Ma'sara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'lin, Kufr Qaddum, Sheikh Jarrah and Saturday at Beit Ummar. Accompanying the villagers near colonialist settlements in the South Hebron hills... and throughout the week - peaking on late Saturday evening in the Social Struggle. Though the demonstrations in Tel Aviv are only with thousands of participants each but they are much more militant and radical compared to last year. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

I’ve just come back from visiting the Kate Sharpley Library in California. Things have changed from the days when I could get there on the bus and we were buying our first filing cabinet. Lots of filing cabinets now, as well as boxes like the Left Bank Books archive. It’s good to look at the non-fiction shelves, seeing ‘old friends’ and new acquisitions. ... read full story / add a comment

The joint struggle of Palestinian activists with Israeli and international activists was never a consensus affair. The more reactionary objected to the influence of secular partners. Extreme "nationalists" oppose the Israeli activists. The Palestinian authority was never too happy with the independent struggle. Some "militants" were against the non-armed mode of the struggle. Narrow-minded people did not have a clue about the joint struggle's contribution to international pressure on Israel to put end to the occupation or at least to lessen the level of repression. The demo against the renewal of discussions of the PA with Israeli rulers brought the PA objections to the open. ---- In Israel, the social struggle collects momentum while the split between the reformists who wish to join the parliament and those who refrain from that quagmire. In the past, Israeli activists detained in joint struggle activities were released after the action ended or on bail late evening/night after interrogation in the police station and banned for two weeks from the specific region. Seldom activists were detained for the night and released at court the next day or banned for up to a month. In very seldom cases activists were detained for two nights, or asked by prosecution for longer time. Last Friday an Israeli comrade was detained at Nebi Saleh. Three days later, on Monday evening at about 6pm, he was released after a Jerusalem District Court judge ruled that there was no evidence to substantiate the soldiers’ allegation of assault. He was however indicted for “reckless behavior” and will face court proceedings for this charge. He also was banned from participation in actions for the following three months. The social struggle within Israel and support for refugees under intense expulsion efforts draw activist from the joint struggle. The internal repression of Palestinians within the west bank by Palestinian Authority personal do not contribute the moral of the people. The sporadic escalation and deescalation of Israeli assaults on the Gaza Ghetto continue, and so are the efforts to transfer Palestinian farmers from the C areas coveted by the colonialist settlers project. Beit Umar, Susia, and the southern Hebron hills are the main victims. ... read full story / add a comment

The first high pick of the third Intifada is nearly over with significant successes of the hunger strike. As counter measure the Israeli state forces increase the harassments and pressures on inhabitants of area C (69% of occupied west bank) to transfer out to area A of the Palestinian authority. In the on going joint struggles of the AAtW with the popular comities and activists, Nebi Saleh still get the most of the harassments. Quaddum and Beit Ummar, which are too locations of regular struggle which is beyond the initial joint struggles against the separation fence, get the on going pressure and punishment to prevent the expansion to the other villages and small towns. Within Israel comrades were involved with the struggle against deportation of African refugees and racial incitement against them. The waves of the hunger strike struggle of the Palestinian prisoners mostly over with victory leave the urge for more. The Israeli state forces try to prevent the expansion of the third Intifada... but not by slowing the mounting efforts to transfer Palestinian villagers from area C. The joint struggle which started with the focus on the separation fence expanded so much that the other aspects are now more prominent. The weekly confrontations in Beit Ommar, Bil'in, Hebron and its southern hills region, Ma'asara, Nabi Saleh, N'ilin, Qaduum, Sheikh Jarrakh, are the core of the struggle with shifting focusing on locations in occupied east Jerusalem and area C which are targeted lately by the escalation of transfer efforts. Within Israel, The social struggle starts slowly to accumulate momentum, with more success in the periphery towns. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

In addition to the weekly joint demonstrations and other joint actions the Anarchists Against the Wall activists participated in the social justice activities and solidarity with the African refugees lately under racial and state harassment. The peak was the Nacsa 45 demonstration in Tel Aviv where about one and a half thousand activists (mostly left to the communist party. One of the joint struggles we are involved in is B.D.S., called for by long, long ago by the Israeli anti-authoritarian anti-capitalists and adopted over the years by other Israeli activists and Palestinian organizations. In the last few years it has collected momentum and though Madonna did not respect it, she tried to co-opt it. The media gave space to the turning down of free tickets donated by Madonna to the more radical Israeli activists, and the State forces' preventing two Palestinian activists from the Ni'ilin joint struggle to attend. In addition to the joint demos and activities in the regular locations in the occupied Palestinian regions and within Israel, comrades were involved in the intensified struggle for the survival of African refugees, victims of Israeli State repression and the extreme right incitement. In addition to the regular locations of joint struggles, the Anarchists Against the Wall initiative was involved with the struggle against the racist attacks on African refugees. Within Israel there were actions in solidarity with the Bedouins who are subject to creeping transfer that has lately accelerated. In Tel Aviv and Jerusalem it was mainly with the refugees and social justice. In the occupied West Bank of Palestine it was the fifth year of Al-Ma'sara, Beit Ummar for the sixth year, in Bil'in now already in the eighth year of continued struggle, in Nabi Salih already the third year, in Ni'ilin that is just completing the fourth year, in Qaddum that started this year, and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied east Jerusalem/Al-Quds already in the third year. All over the West Bank thousands of people took to the streets in support of the hunger striking prisoners. The third intifada collected momentum. It started with hunger strike of administrative prisoners held without trail, with solidarity demos, and joined by 1500 Palestinian prisoners - both in solidarity with the administrative ones and in demand for improving condition of the incarcerated. There were demos and vigils of solidarity daily - both in the occupied territories and within Israel. The weekly demonstrations made it their central theme. After nearly 80 days for the two longest hunger strikers, it seems their death is imminent after the Israeli highest court of "justice" approved of the unyielding refusal of the state to retreat from their administrative jailing. State forces vacillate between harsh repression of demos and restraining - expression of their uncertainty of the evolving third Intifada and mounting international pressure. ... read full story / add a comment

The usual week end struggle of the anarchists against the wall with the grassroots popular committees was interwoven with the hunger strike of Palestinian administrative prisoners. After two strikers were released when their lives were in imminent danger, the hunger strike collected momentum in prison and out, as the few hundreds of administrative prisoners were joined by more than thousand of other Palestinian prisoners in Israeli concentration camps and prisons. Demonstrations occur daily and some of them within the 1948 borders of Israel. The Israeli state intensify the repression of both the prisoners, the demonstrations in support of them in the occupied territories, and even within Israel. The peak within Israel was the arrest and physical harassment of 17 of our comrades who were protesting in front of the prison hospital in Ramle, where two striker are dying. ... read full story / add a comment

Last week there was an escalation in the pressure against the Palestinians in chosen locations that Israel wants to transfer them from - in the south and East Jerusalem neighborhoods. After the first successful hunger strike of two Palestinian administrative detainees, the hunger strike of 1,500 administrative detainees is widescale and the demonstrations of support and solidarity hunger strikes are abundant. In addition to the weekly demonstrations promoting this theme, Ramallah and the concentration camp of Ofer are the main locations, with mounting confrontations between demonstrators and Israeli State forces. In addition to the social struggle within Israel that is gaining momentum, we had actions and solidarity demos with the African refugees. A May 1st demo with a black block will start in Tel Aviv in the early evening. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment
north america / mexico / anarchist movement / press release Monday April 30, 2012 - 23:54 by Chris Alexander
Since May 1, 2006 we have seen a slow opening up of mass struggles on a scale not seen in recent memory, amplified by the silent economic crash in 2008. From the massive day without an immigrant to the historic Arab Spring; the Wisconsin workers uprising to the prisoners strikes in Georgia and California; Occupy Wall Street to the rallies for Justice for Trayvon Martin; General strikes of students in Chile and Quebec and of workers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. People committed to real change cannot help but feel the wind in our sails. People are rising and refusing, struggles are igniting, common ground is revealing itself, we are beginning to feel and take back our power, everywhere.

Despite the rise of new fighting forces, pain is growing not decreasing. Symbolic changes at the peak of empire—codename Obama—have only served to further entrench the direction of decline, with Democrats bringing the stick when the Republicans aren’t there to make their bad cop look good. Deportations have increased, prisons are overflowing, the local face of a global war given new legitimacy, while organized racist violence dares to seize an ever greater public stage. Cutbacks and the destruction of public safety nets pay for corporate welfare and bankers’ bailouts. Ecological destruction continues apace: tar sands mining, fracking, nuclear power, and the daily grind of a system that cannot long coexist with dignified human life on earth. ... read full story / add a comment

Israel state is in panic from the coming third Intifada. It did an overkill efforts to prevent a few hundred international activist from entering. While in media focus created by it, it had a big shame when Israeli colonel was on video showing brutal hitting of a Danish cyclist in a troop cycling in a demo along the Jordan river valley. The Bil'in seventh international conference was in the focus of the joint struggle not pushing aside the weekly joint demonstrations of the anarchists against the wall have with the popular comities of Beit Ummar, Bi'lin, Kufr A-Dik, Sheikh Jarrah, Al-Ma’sara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'ilin, Kufr Qaddum, Walaje. Week after week, more than 50 Israelis activists are mobilized with the AAtW and more than 100 other Israeli radicals with various other initiatives are promoting popular struggle against occupation and hampering transfer.
