There are four main areas of struggles the AAtW activists are involved with: Joint struggle with communities that invite us to join, like Bil'in and other struggles against the separation fence. Other joint struggles against occupation and settler colonialists like Nabi Salih. Joint struggles with wider coalitions like the Sheikh Jarrah coalition and South Hebron. The fourth is within Israel, like prison and jail solidarity, Al Araqeeb and Lod. It seems that our confrontational and direct-action mode of struggle is being adopted by more and more Israeli radicals. ... read full story / add a comment

The ongoing struggles of the few dozen activists of the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall initiative began in Mas'ha camp 2003 on the route of separation fence. The direct actions of one-sided non-violent activities together with popular grassroots Palestinian activists have become the focus for hundreds of Israelis of a wider political spectrum and/or lower level of involvement. The struggle which we started within the 1967 occupation regions "spilled" over to the original 1948 borders of Israel and to other social class struggles. The AAtW's activity draws other Israeli political organizations, initiatives and NGOs into the joint struggle. Even the radical Zionist leftists were touched and are now the core of Solidarity Sheikh Jarrah... which is expanding to other parts of occupied East Jerusalem and even into struggles within the 1948 borders like Araqeeb, Jaffa and Lod. ... read full story / add a comment

We cannot predict which community will be among the first to be in the front of the struggle - and it was not Bil'in. We cannot predict which one will persists in the struggle week after week, year after year... like Bil'in. When it happens, we can often understand, like why the small village of Nabi Salih - which even was not victim of the separation fence, joined the persistent struggle. The participant of each of the on going struggles like El Araqeeb, Beit Ummar, Bil'in, Dahamash, Jaffa, Lod, Ma'sara, Nabi-Salih, Ni'ilin, Sheikh Jarrah, Tel Aviv expresses solidarity with the uprising of the masses in Tunisia and Egypt. When their anger and incitement are directed to the Israeli dissidents opposing 1967 occupation, the joint struggle continue and draw wider spectrum of Israeli radicals. The joint struggle expand even within the 1948 borders. Al-Araqeeb, Lod and Taibe (1948) and (1967) Beit Ummar, Bil'in, Al Ma'sara, Nabi Salih, Ni'ilin, Sheikh Jarrah, South of Hebron mountains. As a backlash resulting from the mounting international opposition to Israeli atrocities and the continuation of the occupation, Israeli racism surges into the open. And in spite of jail verdicts for Palestinian and Israeli activists, the joint struggle is even expanding. The ongoing struggles in Araqeeb, Beit Ummar, BIl'in, Hebron, Hebron's southern mountains, jail solidarity, Lod, Ma'sara, Nabi Salih, Ni'ilin, Sheikh Jarrah and Tel Aviv are just the more visual ones. The Palestinian non violence popular struggle expand even within Israeli 1948 borders: Al Arakiv, Bil'in, Beit Omar, Hebron (Al Khalil), Jerusalem, Lod, Maasara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'lin, Sheikh Jarah, Silwan, Isawia, South of Hebron mountains and more... Anarchists Against the Wall, Ta'ayush, Warriors for peace, Solidarity Sheikh Jarah, Coalition of women for peace, and more.... When the international legitimacy of Israel is diminishing; When the formal and non formal of Israeli racism responds with increased brutality - more Israeli Jews are radicalized. The Bil'in joint struggle is both the flag-bearer and the example for all to see. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

Bilin was cold yesterday. It rained and the wind and damp got to everything. About a thousand of us showed up – Palestinians, Israelis and internationals – to protest the apartheid barrier in the village. The Israeli army knew we were coming, so flying checkpoints were thrown up on the main road into town. We swarmed the hills and valleys surrounding Bil'in by the hundreds and managed to join those already in the village. Nearly all of us us hiked around the apartheid abscesses (roadblocks) and made it to the village where I was (not really) surprised to see Salam Fayyad. I assume he had applied in advance for an entry permit ;). The march got underway after the Old Guard finished posturing for the cameras. We advanced about fifty or sixty meters when Fayyad abruptly stopped, shook a few hands, and bowed out. I heard a few jokes and sniggers as we marched on. It is just another week of struggle in Al Arakib, Beit Ommar, Bil'in, Hebron (Al Khalil), Gaza, Lod, Maasara, Nabi Saleh, Nilin, Silwan, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Wad Rachal, Walaja. On the background of increased international pressure, the Israeli oppression of Palestinians increase - both within the 1948 borders and these of 1967 occupation.... and so rise the resistance, including the joint struggle. Just imagine we had such struggles all over the developed world, where a few scores of anarchist activists in a region kept our agenda in the focus of the public discourse. It is not only the joint struggle against the separation fence or the Occupation. On the previous Friday some of us took part in the redNblack block at Human Rights Day parade in Tel Aviv http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om3804aHtDI This weekend we participated in the persistent weekly joint actions in Bil'in, Nabi Salih, Ni'ilin, Ma'sara, Sheikh Jarrah and Beit Ummar. Just a few hundred people of the Israeli radical left who insist not to let "things as usual" cover the ongoing atrocities. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

The winter arrived with cold and stormy weather for a few days. It did not stop the joint struggle but the urge to report was low. Bilin, the flag holding, is the only detailed reported on struggles. ---- Bil'in ---- Israelis: ~50. Internationals ~ 50. Palestinians: hundreds of men, women, politicians ---- Flags: (in decreasing order) Mubadara, Jabha, Fatah, Palestine, Argentina ---- Soldiers: deployed on the road leading from the wall into the village's built-up area ---- Gas: came before the demonstrators even got near the soldiers ---- Wind: in the demonstrators' faces; small vanguard held their stance near the soldiers ---- Injuries: gas, gas and more gas ---- Arrests: 1 German + 1 Palestinian (who was threatened with arrest if he didn't leave in one minute; in reaction, he said he didn't need a minute, and was willing to be arrested immediately) ---- Releases: Palestinian - at the end of the demo; German - a couple of hours later. The joint struggle against naZionist settler colonialism, occupation, and transfer continue in waves. The last year included a new wave as a significant part of Israeli radicals joined the struggle and direct actions both within 1948 Israel and the 1967 occupied lands. The struggle against the separation fence lost its uniqueness... but it is still in the front, with Bil'in the symbolic flag holding. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

This week, the media reports on the joint struggle of Palestinians, Internationals, and Israelis focused on Nabi Salih and Beit Ummar where the on going struggle is in confrontation with colonialist settlers who gradually expand the robbery of land and resources of neighboring Palestinian villages with protection of Israeli state forces. It seems that the struggle against the separation fence and the struggle against its use for robbery of Palestinian lands expanded to the other fronts of struggle against the 1967 occupation and the efforts to grab Palestinian lands and transfer out Palestinians. The direct actions and persistent confrontation with the Israeli forces mode - promoted by the anarchists against the wall initiative, succeeded to recruit wider circles of Israeli radicals and grass root Palestinian activists. In defiance of the expanding and intensifying international pressure, and what seems to be a desperate efforts the settler colonialists steps are mounting. The joint struggle to which the Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity coalition "Just Jerusalem" solidify and expand to more and more location of struggle within 1948 Israeli borders. The more radicals who join the direct actions, including with those the Anarchists Against the Wall initiative lead Israelis to seems to increase too: Bil'in, Beit Jalla, Beit Ummar, Al Khalil - Hebron, Ma'asara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'lin, south of Hebron mountains, Wad Rahhal, Walaje. Jerusalem is still in the focus of struggle because the transfer efforts there are increasing lately. The joint struggle in the Silwan and Sheikh Jarrah occupied neighborhoods contributed to the building of a wider circle of activists - including liberal and left Zionists who regard the new wave of transfer efforts as both despised and endangering the previous gains of Zionist settler colonialist project. The joining of grass root Palestinian activists plus direct action and mild confronting of state forces - the mode developed by the AAtW is adopted by the new initiative. It is self labeled "The Sheikh Jarrah initiative" but it is involved in more and more struggles - both in Jerusalem and within the 1948 borders of Israel. Beit Ula is another village just joined lately to the string of Beit Ummar, Beit Jala, Bil'in, Ma'sara, Nabi Salih, Ni'ilin, Wad Rahal, and Walaja. [Italiano] ... read full story / add a comment

The Zionist settler colonialist project dream of taking the whole Palestinian lands was frustrated again and again. The illusions of "two banks of the Jordan this and the others are ours" was already" long gone and forgotten. Even the smaller dream of taking all the west bank of the Jordan and cleansing it from Palestinians evaporated from the minds of most Zionists. The majority are resigned to accept a big Palestinian minority within their "Jewish state" but the Israeli elite and its followers still hope that hard bargaining may increase their share of the "holly land" and decrease the number of the Palestinians that will be in it. The joint struggle of the Jewish Israeli radicals with our Palestinian partners seems to bring to an end the support of the international elite to the expansion of the Zionist settler colonialist project. Israeli democracy for Jews still hold. The state forces "only nearly murdered" Israelis participants in joint demonstrators - in comparison of around dozen Palestinians. (The shooting to murder of Palestinian participants was accompanied only by shooting to mime Israeli participants). We will have to see if verdict of one year prison for Adib and Aballah Abu Rahmah of Bil'in will be accompanied by verdicts of prison time (shorter for sure) for Israelis too. AAtW activists participated with others of the emerging Sheikh Jarah coalition and ripples... The demo of Human Rights groups in Thursday of Jerusalem was part of it. The vigils and other forms of presence with the Silwan Sheikh Jarah harassed Palestinians was another. The confrontation with the Jerusalem mayor festivities was another form of intervention. Comrades participated in activities around The Jewish boat to Gaza which was stopped on it's way to brake the siege Thursday morning, and the activists on it were arrested.
