Hij zal in het geheugen van de arbeidersbeweging blijven als een onvermoeibaar strijder voor libertair communisme, een aanhanger van de Algerijnse voorstanders van onafhankelijkheid, een syndicalist met de Ecole Emancipee, een van de leidende figuren van mei 1968 in Tours en een pilaar van de vrijdenkers beweging en in het bijzonder van de afdeling Indre-et-Loire van de Libre-Pensee federatie. Con la morte di Georges Fontenis a Tours il 9 agosto 2010 all'età di 90 anni, ci ha lasciato uno degli ultimi personaggi del movimento anarchico degli anni 1940-50 . Resterà, nella memoria del movimento operaio, l'immagine di un instancabile combattente del comunismo libertario, un protagonista nel sostegno agli indipendentisti algerini, un sindacalista dell'École Émancipée, uno degli animatori del Maggio '68 a Tours e uno dei pilastri della federazione della Libre-Pensée nell'Indre-et-Loire. One of the last personalities of the anarchist movement from the 1940s and '50s has left us with the death of Georges Fontenis in Tours on 9th August 2010 at the age of 90. He will remain in the memory of the workers' movement as an untiring fighter for libertarian communism, a supporter of the Algerian independists, a syndicalist with the École Émancipée, one of the leading figures of May 1968 in Tours and a pillar of the Freethought movement and in particular the Indre-et-Loire branch of the Libre-Pensée federation.
