25 APRIL

Still struggling, still resisting

We are anti-fascists because today we are continuing the fight in memory of those who died on Italy's hills fighting against the Nazi-Fascist regime.

We are anti-fascists because fascism is hidden behind capitalism: in the barbarity of workplace deaths, in the systematic repression of anyone who fights for more rights and more freedom, in the transformation of the masses into sheep by means of consumerism so extreme and uncontrolled that it blinds people to their real needs and sucks away their consciousness.

Fascism lies in today's "security" policies, based on false fears induced by the media, the servant of power, and on the real economic crisis, with immigrants being made the scapegoat for all the evils of today's society.

The face of Fascism today is that of unscrupulous entrepreneurs, of young skinheads demanding the re-opening of extermination camps for immigrants, of the videocameras on every street that watch your every step, of the illegal rubbish dump beside a primary school.

Fascism is a totalitarian government which is the slave of Capital and the Church, that puts the fascist and anti-fascist dead on the same level, that turns the history of the people into so much waste paper.

Fascism must be fought in the streets, with direct action, with the continuing conquest of new liberties, with self-management and organization from below.

Fascism cannot be defeated among the thrones of power of a government or a local council, but only by tasting the pleasure of freedom in every moment of our lives.
