Social direct action

Today we take a stance about an unpleasant episode which is promoted to be on in early September 2005 in the region of Meligala (2) and which will brings our memories back in a dark period of the contemporary Greek history.

Never again fascism Social direct action Dear residents of Prefectures of Messinia and Ilia

We, the members of Federation of Anarchists of Western Greece (OADE), who live in the Prefectures of Messinia and Ilia (1) are interested about the preservation and widening of the individual and collective social rights and freedom.

Today we take a stance about an unpleasant episode which is promoted to be on in early September 2005 in the region of Meligala (2) and which will brings our memories back in a dark period of the contemporary Greek history.

It is said from leaks in the local press, that nationalist and fascist organisations from European countries will organise an assembly in early September in order to discuss how they can return in the political limelight crashing out every libertarian and humanitarian perception has been conquered through huge social struggles and revolutions in all the world.

We all already know the dirty role of nationalism and also every theory which levels the human being for the profit by any totalitarian power. We all already know which crimes were committed in Greece during the German occupation and the Civil War by the then dominant parties of the Left and the Right which in order to satisfy their will for power did not respect even unarmed people, families, children…

Today in 2005 in Greece we realise a resurgence of nationalistic-right wing ideology expressed mainly by LAOS party of Karatzaferis and small marginal hooligan style fascist organisations. All these political reactionary formations are exploiting the social dissatisfaction due to the interweaving and decay of the existing constitutional model, whilst they try to acquire the influence they need to spread havoc and violence against everything different than their abnormal antisocial perception.

We must not relax!

We believe there is an alternative prospect in the course of humanity. We believe the society can be organised from the bottom up, without parties and saviours, without racial and class divisions. It depends on the degree of its awareness but also its organisational formation, with which it will be line up against the existing constitutional model, which it will overthrow, if this society, the society without any authority of the above, will be achieved. Until then (establishment of the free society of equals) we will not allow any violation of the rights and the freedom we have gained as a society.

However, today in front in this announced event in advance in early September, we will not remain crossing our hands. We call everyone who does not want a retreat in the reactionary periods of the history to take a stance. It is not the job of political organisations and repressive mechanisms of the state to answer in this event. Is is an affair of the people to answer against this provocation. In front of the united people every reactionary reptile, regardless its colour, is leaving.

We, the members of Federation of Anarchists of Western Greece (OADE) who live in the Prefectures of Messinia and Ilia, as a part of the people, we call for the formation of a Popular Antifascist Initiative at the same time with the official announcement of this meeting. The very aim of this Initiative it cannot be other than the cancellation of this meeting, by any means necessary.

NEVER AGAIN FASCISM

SOCIAL DIRECT ACTION

Members of Federation of Anarchists of Western Greece (OADE) in Prefectures of Messinia and Ilia

1. Regions of Western Peloponnisos, Western Greece.

2. Meligalas has a symbolic emotional historical meaning for the Greek fascists and right wing, because during the Civil War 1946-1949 there took place a really destructive battle between right wing and left wing forces which won by the left. Numerous of the right wing followers died in this battlefield.

I would like to add my whole hearted support to the campaign to stop this racist festival in Greece. I want to do whatever I can to prevent it. The rise of the extreme right wing in Europe is frightening. My weblog was started for the purpose of exposing human rights abuses in Greece.
Please let me know if there is anything more I can do.

In the evening of 16/9/2020 at Thessaloniki, Greece, during a social intervention, anti-fascists were collectively erasing fascist hate slogans and graffiti, which were written a few days earlier by members of the new neo-Nazi party “Greeks for Fatherland” (Έλληνες για την Πατρίδα) - founded by Ilias Kassidiaris, an ex-representative of the Nazi party “Golden Dawn” (Χρυσή Αυγή) – and replacing them by antifascist graffiti instead. Around 10:30 PM our comrades were surrounded by a large group of police forces that attacked them without reason. Fifty-one comrades were taken into custody to the Police General Headquarters in Thessaloniki and kept there 2 to 4 days under the most deplorable conditions. In total, fifteen of them were injured while another two were even admitted to the hospital due to the heavy injuries caused by the police officers involved in the attack. Both during the arrest and under custody, the police did not cease to provoke and abuse their power - the ability to rule and control given to them by the state -, attempting to break the spirit of our comrades.

The coup, which has been an inevitable reality of the state presence in this geography since the military coup of 1980, arose after 36 years, on the night of July 15. Many state buildings were blocked for a few hours during the military mobilisation based in Istanbul and Ankara. The coup started with flypast of fighter jets in Ankara and blocking of bridges in Istanbul by soldiers, and continued with taking hostage of chief of general staff and tank noise and gun shots in the streets. Many state buildings were shot by F16s and helicopters including the parliament building and the headquarters of National Intelligence Organisation; There were clash of arms in many places between soldiers and police. Following the events, national state television broadcast was cut and the coup declaration signed 'Peace at Home Council'' was read. When the ''5 Hour Coup'' ended, more than one hundred soldiers, more than eighty police officers and more than eighty anti-coup protesters died. 2839 soldiers, among them many high ranked ones, were taken into custody.

The umbrella organisation of the Kurdish movement, the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Co-Presidency, has released a statement about last night's coup attempt in Turkey.

The statement said; “There has been a coup attempt by persons whose identity and purpose is yet not clear. This attempt comes just before the military council meeting, where Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was reportedly going to assign generals close to himself to the army's top tier. Another striking dimension of the coup attempt is that it comes at a time when discussions about the fascist AKP government's foreign policy, were taking place.”
