* The newspaper Tierra y Libertad, mouthpiece of the Iberian Anarchist Federation, published in edition 227 of June 2007 this manifesto of the International of Anarchist Federations (IAF-IFA; www.iaf-ifa.org) in support of those who in Venezuela today confront the bureaucratic capitalist project of the Chavez government as well as their social democrat and right wing opponents. In the first three months of 2007, 23 popular demonstrations were repressed by the Venezuelan government and 99 activists were detained. This fact speaks of the growing unease as well as the criminalization of social struggle in this Latin-American country, in a reality masked by the propaganda and mystification of a regime that paints itself as the vanguard of ‘21st Century socialism’ with the support of different groupings and persons associated with the authoritarian left throughout the world. |

[Castellano] [Italiano] Political Statement by the 6th General Assembly of the Red Libertaria Popular Mateo Kramer 18:39 Sun 07 Aug 0 comments In the tempest of words that generate action, dreams, ideas and proposals, the young comrades of the Red Libertaria Popular Mateo Kramer successfully held its 6th General Assembly. Two days of hard collective work, vegan food, effective solidarity and confidence in the potential we have as young people to be, together with other men and women, a part of the transformation of this country. In this regard, we reaffirm once again that in order to change the established order where plunder, criminalization, repression and inequality rule, the people must continue to mobilize and organize themselves, strengthening the bonds of unity between different sectors and regions, in order to build a comprehensive proposal for the country so that we can live with dignity. [Castellano] Political Statement by the 4th General Assembly of the Red Libertaria Popular Mateo Kramer 16:08 Fri 06 Aug 0 comments Two pleasant days of intense debate, meetings, enjoyment, great vegan food and socializing in an atmosphere of solidarity all went to create the necessary climate for our fourth General Assembly. With the evident qualitative and quantitative growth in our organization, the 12 collectives that make up the RLPMK reached the following definitions and agreements. [Castellano] One more step towards the construction of a local anarchist movement in Colombia 18:36 Mon 17 May 0 comments Each organized group in the various regions of the country has a different view of these libertarian days depending on their situation; however, it must be recognized what has been generated with this process, such as the setting up of the website www.nodo50.org/anarcol/ with the event held in Medellín in 2004, and the emergence of a joint space for anarchist collectives called the Anarchist Local Coordination (CLA) in 2007. New anarchist periodical in Bogota - "Iconoclasta" 20:37 Fri 15 May 0 comments The anarchist newspaper "Iconoclasta" is a joint effort by members of Antorcha Libertaria, ANARCOL, Bogota Anarchist Black Cross and other individuals. Spring zu Komment: 1 2This is a curious statement from the IAF as for some reason it fails to mention the other major threat to anarchists and social movements, the coup attempt of the right wing and the danger of imperialist intervention of the US. Such events in the past revealed that the post coup regimes or US imperialism seldom bother to distinguish between factions of the left but rather follow the slogan of 'kill them all and let god sort them out'. It is likely that the threat of a coup is a far greater danger that the Chavez government. This is not to say that Chavez offers anything in himself but rather that at the moment Venzulan anarchists can operate in public in as free a manner as any other country in the region. This would be unlikely in a post coup situation so why the failure to mention such a danger at all?
See the English section in El Libertario' website www.nodo50.org/ellibertario, for a lot of stuff about the anarchists & the Venezuelan situation.
