Invitation to the fifth General Assembly of the New York Metro Alliance of Anarchists

So here we are, in New York friggin’ City, and . . . where are all the
anarchists? You’d think that—-given NYC’s position as the stronghold and
symbol of nasty global capitalism—-we’d be swarming all over the place,
fucking shit up at will while building for better days ahead.

Well, we are . . . sort of.

You see, doing anarchism takes time, effort, and PEOPLE. People like you.
That’s why, every two months, the New York Metro Alliance of Anarchists
(known to the über-hip cognoscenti as NYMAA) holds a General Assembly. At
these General Assemblies, we gather together as many likeminded anarchists
(and antiauthoritarians, horizontalists, autonomists, etc., ad infinitum)
as we can, and we hang out in a big room for a few hours in order to deal
with internal NYMAA issues, plan new projects and nurture ongoing
projects, and get new people excited about working with us.

And, wonder of wonders, there’s a General Assembly coming up (our fifth),
and you’re invited. How autumnal of us! Here’s the scoop:

Time: Saturday, October 21; 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Place: Sixth Street Community Center; 638 East 6th Street between Avenues
B and C

Directions: F or V train to 2nd Avenue, walk east on Houston Street to
Avenue B and make a left, walk north on Avenue B to 6th Street and make a
right.

or

6 train to Astor Place, walk east on 8th Street/St. Mark's Place to Avenue
A and make a right, walk south on Avenue A to 6th Street and make a left.

or

N or R train to 8th Street, walk east on 8th Street/St. Mark's Place to
Avenue A and make a right, walk south on Avenue A to 6th Street and make a
left.

or

L train to 1st Avenue, walk south on 1st Avenue to 6th Street and make a
left.

Food and drink, as well as childcare, will be provided. In addition,
there’s talk of an actual NYMAA AFTERPARTY (our first) to follow the
General Assembly, with lots of salacious debauchery on tap. Good times!

But hey, what is a “NYMAA” anyway? Glad you asked. At the moment, our aim
is to build momentum and create a movement of genuine resistance and
liberation that is capable of confronting the brutality of all forms of
authoritarianism, hierarchy, domination, and oppression. Our pet peeves
are capitalism and the state. We are revolutionaries, after all.

For even more info on what we’re about, feel free to check out
www.nymaa.org, especially the “Our structure” link.

In addition, we welcome your proposals and other agenda items for the
General Assembly. Please e-mail them, along with any RSVPs (especially if
you're bringing kids!), to nymaa-comms [at] riseup [dot] net.

See you there!
